Amber, our DON, is starting her second year here with us as certified wound nurse! Last week she took on and passed a 2-day wound care course in Olathe, KS!
What does this mean for Colwich Gardens?
It means better consistency of care for our residents. Having an onsite wound nurse allows treatments to be monitored closely, changes to be addressed quickly, and communication between nursing staff, providers, residents, and families to stay seamless.
Instead of relying on outside wound care services that may only visit periodically, our residents benefit from familiar faces, individualized care plans, and daily oversight from someone who truly knows them.
This helps improve healing outcomes, comfort, and continuity of care.
