Middle School student, Benjamin R., shared his incredible talent on the violin with our Social Adult community, filling the room with beautiful music in honor of Rosh Hashanah. The music brought joy across generations, creating meaningful bonds and reminding us of the importance of celebrating traditions together.

Gurwin Yogi’s Big Catch Challenge was a home run for our Gurwin Jewish Nursing & Rehabilitation Center residents ! While we didn’t set the world record, the day was filled with laughter, celebration and community spirit.

Our President & CEO of Gurwin Healthcare System, Stuart B. Almer, FACHE, threw out the first pitch to kick things off. Residents sported baseball caps and Yogism shirts, cheering each other on.

The star of the day? Our incredible 104-year-old resident, Genevieve, who threw 5 perfect pitches from the mound! She’ll be turning 105 this October — what better way to celebrate National Centenarian Day?

And of course, no ballgame would be complete without a sweet treat — everyone enjoyed ice cream sundaes in keepsake baseball hat cups. Even better, this event was featured on News 12 Long Island

As Yogi would say: “It ain’t over till it’s over!”

Our residents at Gurwin Jewish Nursing & Rehabilitation Center gathered in the beautiful Simon Rainbow Room for a heartwarming concert by Julia, who filled the space with timeless classics. The room was alive with music, singing and smiles — a truly lovely time together. Music has a special way of lifting spirits, and today it brought joy to every heart.

Camping fun at Adult Day Care’s Social Program! We kicked off the day with a delicious breakfast al fresco, then enjoyed some friendly axe throwing and nature-inspired arts & crafts.

What a wonderful day our Gurwin Adult Day Care Social Program participants had visiting our neighbors at the Commack Public Library! Our group enjoyed an enriching experience exploring the beautiful library space, discovering new books and connecting with the welcoming library staff. Thank you to the amazing team at Commack Public Library for opening your doors and hearts to our participants. Community connections like these make all the difference!

On Sunday, we celebrated the wonderful grandparents at Gurwin Jewish Nursing & Rehabilitation Center! The day was filled with laughter, hugs and even a special performance by two wonderful singers, Phil and Lauren — bringing music, smiles and happy memories to all.

Here’s to honoring the past, celebrating the present and embracing the love that connects us all.
