Gurwin's 36-acre campus is also home to a renowned assisted living community, Gurwin Jewish ~ Fay J. Lindner Residences, and Fountaingate Gardens, a new and unique independent living community for active older adults. The System also includes it's newest member, Island Nursing and Rehab Center located in Holbrook, Long Island.

In this NatureVibes Therapeutic Horticulture LLC class, our Adult Day Care Health Program at Gurwin Jewish Nursing & Rehabilitation Center participants explored the life of iconic Mexican artist Frida Kahlo, known for her bold self-expression and deep connection to nature. We’ll discover how the gardens and flowers around her inspired her artwork and uncover the story behind her favorite bloom.

After our discussion, participants will create their own Fabulous Frida Floral Portraits, inspired by the vibrant colors and natural beauty Frida loved.

This engaging activity encourages creativity, conversation and cultural appreciation while supporting cognitive stimulation and social connection.

Our Adult Day Care Social Program at Gurwin Jewish Nursing & Rehabilitation Center celebrated the beauty of roses—the stars of the garden during their recent NatureVibes Therapeutic Horticulture LLC class. Participants explored their vibrant colors, sweet fragrances and the timeless stories and cultural meanings of roses as symbols of love, memory, and joy.

Through simple storytelling and shared conversation, we sparked memories and connected through nature’s beauty.

To finish, everyone created beautiful Monet-inspired rose artwork, blending creativity, nature and self-expression in a relaxing hands-on activity. The results were truly stunning!

Our Gurwin Jewish Nursing & Rehabilitation Center residents had the sweetest afternoon celebrating Sweetheart’s Day! They enjoyed a lovely lunch filled with delicious desserts, laughter and wonderful company. The celebration was made even more special by a fabulous entertainer who filled the room with beautiful love songs that had everyone smiling and singing along. It was truly a heartwarming day to remember!

The Olympic torch continued its journey with Bernice, one of our incredible Gurwin Adult Day Care Social Program participants, who proudly carried the flame to Gurwin Home Care. From there, the Gurwin Home Care team took up the torch and made the final, triumphant delivery to Gurwin Jewish Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, marking the moment our games were officially launched!

Team spirit is high, excitement is building and the Gurwin Olympics have begun!
