That feeling of your body not quite being “off”—but not quite right either.

Where things feel tighter, heavier, or more reactive than they used to.

More often than not, there’s more to the story than just the physical symptoms.

Stress. Busy seasons. Mental load.
It all has a way of showing up in the body.

Our role isn’t just to treat what hurts.
It’s to understand what your body has been navigating—and help guide it back to a place that feels more supported.

That process looks different for everyone.
And that’s exactly the point.

If you’ve been dealing with something that hasn’t fully resolved, we’d love to work with you.

Have you been blaming your slouched posture, forward head, or rounded shoulders on long days at a desk… telling yourself you just need to “sit up straighter” or strengthen your postural muscles more?

It’s a common thought—but posture is so much more than that.

We often think of posture as a fixed position: shoulders back, chest up, spine “perfectly straight.” If we could just hold that all day, we’d feel better… right?

Not quite.

Posture isn’t static—it’s dynamic. It’s a 3D, constantly changing process that’s meant to adapt and move with you throughout the day. Your body isn’t designed to stay in one “ideal” position—it’s designed to shift, alternate, and flow.

In fact, all of your body’s systems depend on movement:
✨ Your digestive system needs motion to function well
✨ Your circulatory system relies on movement to prevent pooling and swelling
✨ And your musculoskeletal system (including posture) thrives on variability—not rigidity

Your posture is influenced by more than just muscles and bones. It’s also shaped by:
🫁 How you breathe
🧠 How your nervous system is responding to stress and demand
⚖️ How your body distributes pressure and load

So if you’ve been doing all the “right” exercises—like rows or postural strengthening—but still dealing with neck tension, stiffness, or low back pain… There may be a missing piece.

Lasting change comes from addressing the whole system—not just one part.

As a –certified provider, I take all of this into account to help you uncover the why behind your symptoms and build a plan that actually works for your body.

If you’re ready to stop chasing temporary fixes and start getting to the root of your neck pain, tension, or low back discomfort—schedule your evaluation through the link in bio.

You don’t have to just accept it.

How frustrating is it to hear comments like, “Oh, that’s just part of getting older” or “It must be the way you’re built” —as if nothing can be done— when that “something” is keeping you from doing the things you love?

At Be You Physical Therapy & Wellness, we take a whole-body approach—looking at how you move and how each part of your body influences the others—to get to the true root cause of your pain or limitations.

You deserve answers. You deserve a plan. And you deserve to feel like yourself again.

Breath = Life.
Breath = Movement.

In Postural Restoration, we often say: “If you can’t breathe there, you can’t be there.” But what does that really mean?

Your brain’s top priority is survival, and breathing sits at the center of that. Because of this, your breath is often a real-time reflection of how safe and comfortable your body feels.

Think about a moment when you were anxious—your breathing likely became quick and shallow. Now think about a moment of calm—your breath slowed down and felt almost effortless. Your nervous system changes your breathing based on how it perceives the situation.

The same thing happens with movement and posture.

As you move through your day, your breathing often reveals how comfortable your body is in certain positions. When the brain finds a position that feels safe and easy to breathe in, it tends to keep returning there.

Over time, though, staying in the same comfortable patterns can make it harder to move out of them. That’s when extra tension, stiffness, and wear and tear can start to show up.

By gradually introducing your body to new positions—and teaching it how to breathe there—we help your system feel safe expanding into new movement options. When your body can breathe in more places, it can move with less tension, less stress, and less discomfort.

✨More breathing options = more movement options.✨

Curious what that could look like for you?

The Human Body is Highly Adaptable….

But It Does Have Limits.

I often think of our body as a “cup.” Each time we experience stress—whether physical, emotional, or environmental—it adds to this cup. Our body adapts to these stresses; however, if they are not addressed or treated, the cup begins to fill up. Eventually, the cup reaches its capacity, and the body can no longer adapt. At this point, any new stressor—a poorly fitting shoe, sleeping in an awkward position, or even trying a new sport—can cause the cup to overflow, resulting in an injury that seems to have come out of nowhere.

Why is this important? When treating these “out of nowhere” injuries, it’s crucial to consider what else is in your “cup.” For example, you might need to address an old ankle sprain to improve mobility and alleviate low back pain. Alternatively, collaboration between healthcare providers may be necessary to tackle both physical and mental stressors. As soon as you start removing stressors from the cup, your body regains its ability to adapt, making it better equipped to handle the next small stressor that comes its way.

If you need help identifying what might be in your cup and how to address it, click the link in our bio to schedule your evaluation today and discover just how adaptable your body truly is.

I can’t count the number of times, as a child, I heard the words “sit up straight” at the dinner table. Was that just me, or was your childhood similar? “Stop slouching”, “sit up straight,” “pull your shoulders back”, and “chin up” were all phrases I heard as my parents valiantly tried to get me to have “perfect posture”.

Unfortunately, what many people think of as “good” posture is actually an exaggeration of our natural neutral spine position. As we attempt to pull our shoulders back and sit up straight, we often lift our chests up and extend our lower backs. While it is okay to visit these positions and do these movements intermittently throughout our daily lives, if we begin to live and move in these extremes all the time, this can lead to dysfunction, tension, and pain.

So, how do you address this, and what is good posture? First, know that posture is not a static position; rather, it is a dynamic that changes with us as we move through space. Working on posture starts with addressing movement patterns that may be holding you in place. Oftentimes, this begins with addressing breathing patterns (which help bring down the elevated chest and rib cage) and working on pelvic positioning under the rib cage through guided exercises that are specific to your movement patterns.

When it comes to recovery from an injury or pain, many of us think of the journey as linear. If I put in the work and time, my body will know what to do; it will heal, and I will reach my goal of being able to do x/y/z again.

Oftentimes, though, this is not the case. As we guide the body through recovery, there are things we can control and things that we cannot. With this, there are times when it seems like you are going backwards. These bumps in the road can be because you did too much once you started to feel a little better, or sometimes it’s through no fault of your own (maybe you had to go on a business trip and sleep in a horrible bed).
The key is to keep putting in the work. You may need a helping hand along the way to help guide you back onto course to reach your goals, and that is okay; it doesn’t mean you’ve failed. Take a moment to reflect, learn from experience, then get back on track to reaching your recovery goals.

If you need guidance to keep you moving forward with your recovery, feel free to reach out. At Be You, we understand the ups, downs, and whirlwinds that life can throw your way, and we’re here to help you stay on track and reach your goals.
