Sometimes a lot, other times not so much. As people go, Josh isn’t really ALL that BIG - about 5’ 9” tall and about 165 pounds. And in his early 60s, he has yet to carve out a really huge business empire. So why do we call it Big Josh’s Medical Stuff. To begin with, we wanted it to be memorable, because that’s what Josh is. Some people talk about values like loyalty and commitment and perseverance
. He just lives them every day. A career salesperson who really doesn’t like selling. An introvert who’s happiest when hiking the trails in the Colorado Rockies with his wife, or listening to books on tape; he has spent a lifetime in a profession which puts him smack in the middle of all kinds of people, clients and clinicians, on a regular basis. So again, why Big Josh? Because when it comes to his desire to create new products for people with needs, we’ve never met anybody with a bigger drive and a bigger heart. The Medical Stuff part comes from the fact that we are offering to the public (after almost four decades of being focused primarily on the Veteran’s Hospital community) is a pretty diverse offering. We have a raised toilet seat that’s not anything like the one you got for you Mom at the local drugstore. It’s made for people on wheelchairs who have very involved bowel programs. For you Mom it would be a waste of money, for those who need it, it’s a godsend. For someone who has to spend a long time (we’re talking months or longer here) lying on their stomachs, we make prone carts that can be powered to behave like a power when chair, only upside down, sort of. And gel, the very best arm pads ever put on a wheel chair happen to be a great idea for someone who works in an office and wants to kick up that office chair a notch or two with really great arms. So while we know we’re not for everyone, take a moment or two to see if we may just be for you, or someone you love. And if we are, we think our new name will make perfect sense to you.
