Composite Dentistry!

Due to periodontal disease, there has been extensive bone loss and tissue loss around these anterior teeth.

We used pink composite (to simulate gum tissues) and tooth colored composite to fill in spaces around our patient’s teeth. Our goal was to improve function as well as esthetics for our wonderful patient.

Renamel Gingafill was used to simulate gum tissues. Renamel NANO Plus was used as our tooth colored composite.

The Black Triangle System was used to help us place our composite in this case.

Our wonderful patient was born without lateral incisors. Using a conservative approach we were able to use porcelain veneers to make the canines (in the usual position of lateral incisors) look like lateral incisors.

For the preparation we only removed old composite bonding material and added a very fine finish line by the gingival margin of the teeth. **Our prep is shown in the second photo. Other than that, no further prep was needed.

In order to complete a case like this, tooth position, and a healthy functional bite is essential. The Williams and Gallagher ortho team did an amazing job with our patient’s ortho care and provided us with these essential components.

provided the amazing porcelain work that allowed us to enhance our patient’s smile in a healthy and conservative way!

Function and esthetics always have to work together in dentistry.

We completed this case with porcelain on the upper arch (minimal prep) and composite on the lower (no prep - all additive using a stamp/injection moulding technique).
**3rd photo shows our prep

For this case we needed to change our patient’s functional biting system since he was slowly wearing away and destroying his teeth with his current system.

We used his lip line and facial dynamics to determine how long his upper front teeth needed to be (for ideal esthetics). Using this length we then determined how much height we needed to add to his posterior teeth in order to provide an ideal functional bite (so biting forces were on back teeth rather than front teeth).

Our smile design/wax up and beautiful porcelain work was completed by .

Composite veneers (aka composite bonding) plus gum tissue recontouring!!

For this case we completed composite veneers on our patient’s front six teeth. We used a beautiful digital smile design developed by and an injection molding technique to idealize the shape, size, and contours of the teeth.

We also completed a gingivectomy on our patient’s right canine and lateral incisor in order to provide symmetry with the gum tissue.

By working with both the gum tissues and teeth we were able to get rid of the slight cant present in our patient’s initial smile.

No smile is the same. Every smile is unique.

Our patient wanted the spaces (diastemas) in between his teeth closed and a smile that looked natural. We worked to give him a nice natural smile that didn’t look “fake” and would fit with what he wanted.

In order to do this we “disguised” his canines as premolars. We also used these teeth as abutments to add cantilevered bridges to support new teeth that look like canines.

We added composite veneers on the premolars so his back teeth now blend with his front teeth (idealizing his buccal corridors).

performed the amazing design work and beautiful porcelain work.

A little bit of composite can make a big difference for a smile!

We see a lot of patients who would like to make small changes to how their teeth look. Maybe they’d like the edges of their teeth to be a little longer. Maybe they want the corners of their teeth to be a little rounder. Composite is an amazing material to make any change happen in a conservative and non-invasive way.

For this case we worked on our patient’s laterals and canines (four teeth). We used composite to idealize the length of the laterals, and to soften the look of the canines.

We used Renamel NANO Plus (shades B1 and incisal light) for this case!
