World Diabetes Day

With 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗗𝗶𝗮𝗯𝗲𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝗗𝗮𝘆 coming up, we wanted to take a moment to reflect on how we can all make a difference in the lives of people with diabetes.

𝗗𝗶𝗮𝗯𝗲𝘁𝗲𝘀 is a serious disease that impacts over 420 million people worldwide. That's almost 10% of the world's adult population! It's also one of the top ten causes of death in America.

But what if there was something you could do to help those who are living with this disease?

It turns out there is. And it's easier than you think.

𝗝𝗶𝘃𝗮 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 is a company that helps people with diabetes. We know how hard it is for people to live with this disease, especially when there aren't many resources available for them. We also know how important access to information about their condition is for people who are living with it or looking after loved ones who are. That's why we've created the 𝗗𝗠 𝗣𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆.

With 𝗗𝗠 𝗣𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿, you can connect with others who have the same condition as you, get updates on research and treatment options, and share your experiences with people who understand what you're going through.

So if you want to help those living with diabetes make sure to follow us on Facebook and Instagram.

On World Diabetes Day (November 14th), we'll be promoting our 𝐯𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐥 𝐝𝐢𝐚𝐛𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐬 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦 that provides information about diabetes, including tips for living well with it and ways to manage your symptoms.

Our goal?

To help the millions of people out there who are struggling with this disease feel 𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗱 by their knowledge and equipped to take control of their health—and ultimately, improve their lives!

So you have diabetes. Where do you go from here?

Well, first of all, congratulations! You're in a great place to start managing your diabetes. If you have diabetes, you must take some steps to manage your condition as soon as possible.

But what does "managing" mean?

Managing diabetes means ensuring you have all the tools necessary to live a healthy and fulfilling life with diabetes—and that includes getting the proper education about what to expect and how to prevent complications.

Managing diabetes also means learning how to live well with diabetes. It may involve avoiding high-sugar foods and drinks, getting enough exercise, watching your weight, and managing stress levels.

Managing diabetes requires commitment from everyone involved—you! Your doctor or healthcare provider, your family members, and loved ones, your friends and coworkers, and anyone else who can help support you on this journey toward wellness.

Talk to us today about how to best manage your diabetes.

Diabetes is a common, severe, and chronic condition. It can lead to serious health complications if left untreated.

When a person with diabetes shows blood sugar level rises above normal ranges, it is known as hyperglycemia. It happens if the person with diabetes does not have enough insulin. The risk of developing diabetes is much higher for people who are obese and inactive than it is for lean, active people.

Diagnosis of diabetes is through several tests, including 𝐛𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐠𝐥𝐮𝐜𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐭𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 and 𝐡𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐠𝐥𝐨𝐛𝐢𝐧 𝐀𝟏𝐜 𝐥𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐬. These tests reveal an accurate picture of your diabetes or pre-diabetes condition, and you should keep meticulous track of your blood sugar levels.

Diabetes can be challenging to diagnose – so complex that many people go undiagnosed. At 𝐉𝐢𝐯𝐚 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡, our doctors help find diabetes in patients of all ages, including children. We offer a wide range of services to help you live a healthier, more active life.

Contact us today to see if you (or your child) might be one of those people we could help through the process.

Diabetes is a chronic illness that causes problems with glucose or sugar metabolism.

There are three types of Diabetes: Type 1, Type 2, and Gestational Diabetes.

𝐓𝐲𝐩𝐞 𝟏 𝐃𝐢𝐚𝐛𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐬 is when your pancreas does not produce insulin, a hormone our body needs to maintain proper blood sugar levels. Also called insulin-dependent or juvenile Diabetes, it usually develops in children, teens, and young adults but can happen at any age.

𝐓𝐲𝐩𝐞 𝟐 𝐃𝐢𝐚𝐛𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐬 is an impairment in how the body regulates and uses sugar (glucose) as fuel. This long-term (chronic) condition results in too much sugar circulating in the bloodstream. Eventually, high blood sugar levels can lead to circulatory, nervous, and immune systems disorders.

𝐆𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐃𝐢𝐚𝐛𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐬 occurs when your body can't make enough insulin during pregnancy. Insulin is a hormone your pancreas produces that is key to letting blood sugar into your body's cells for energy use.

If you think you may have Diabetes, you must visit your doctor and get tested.

Your doctor will help determine which type of Diabetes you have and discuss treatment options with you.

What are some of the symptoms of diabetes?

It’s essential to recognize the symptoms of diabetes.

Diabetes is associated with a long and severe list of health issues, including heart disease and stroke, eye problems, kidney disease, and nerve damage that may reduce sensation in the feet.

Diabetes is “the silent killer” because they tend to develop gradually and without symptoms in most people.

Some people with diabetes may not know they have it until complications occur, including heart disease, kidney disease, and eye problems.

Diabetes can cause many specific symptoms, including:

1. Frequent urination
2. Increased thirst
3. Weight loss without dieting or increased appetite
4. Fatigue
5. Blurred vision
6. Irritability
7. Inability to concentrate
8. Slow healing of cuts or wounds
9. Frequent infections

If you have signs and symptoms of diabetes, you must see a doctor.

While there are different types of diabetes (type 1 and type 2), the most common diagnostic test is measuring your blood glucose level.

Learn more about what diabetes is, how to detect and prevent it, how to control it, and much more by speaking to our medical providers or visiting our website at www.jivahealth.com for more information.
