What an incredible day at the Cabarrus Senior Expo!

Our seated demonstration was filled with joy, energy, and amazing participation. Watching everyone engage, laugh, and move together was such a gift.

I’m so proud of our participants—they did an outstanding job!

Battle for the Light – What an Amazing Morning

What a powerful and encouraging morning as we gathered for Battle for the Light, learning about spiritual warfare and practical self-defense. It was such a meaningful time of fellowship, learning, and equipping one another.

One of the most beautiful moments of the day was seeing over 30 schools adopted in prayer. What a blessing! Our goal is to have someone praying for every school in our area — including homeschools — and we are trusting God to continue bringing the right people forward.

If you feel led, please consider adopting a school to pray for. This is such a simple but powerful way to cover our students, teachers, and families in prayer. Our next step will be encouraging whole churches to adopt one or two schools together.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended, and a special thank you to our Health Ministry Team and all the volunteers who helped set up, serve, clean up, and support the event in so many ways. It truly takes many hands to make a day like this possible.

But the mission doesn’t stop here.

We are called to pray for our schools, pray for our families, and pray for our communities. As believers, we are also called to love people deeply, even when we don’t love the brokenness and darkness in the world around us.

Let’s continue to seek the Lord, stay in His Word, and walk out our faith in a real and personal way.
Thank you again to everyone who was part of this special day.

What a fantastic self-defense session we had today with Diego Cabrera from ATA Martial Arts Concord.

Diego had us up on our feet learning real self-defense techniques, and there was definitely some laughter as we tried to master the moves! But alongside the fun was a deep awareness of why these skills matter in the world we live in today.

He did an excellent job breaking down each move, explaining why it’s important and how to do it correctly. He was patient, encouraging, and even had us laughing — while still being serious about the moments that needed to be taken seriously.
It was clear we were learning from someone who truly cares about equipping people to protect themselves and others.

We couldn’t have asked for a better teacher today.
If you’re looking to learn self-defense or just to move your body to work for a better quality of life no matter your age, I highly recommend taking classes with Diego at ATA Concord.

Thank you, Diego, for sharing your time, your expertise, and your passion with us today. 👊

Unfortunately, many Black people still have negative experiences when they attempt to seek treatment. Provider bias, both conscious and unconscious, and a lack of cultural competency can result in misdiagnosis and inadequate treatment.

Whether you seek help from a primary care professional or a mental health professional, you should finish your sessions with the health care professional feeling heard and respected. We are Sharing Hope to receive the best possible support and care.
