So grateful for spaces that believe in community, connection, and shared learning. 💛

A heartfelt thank you to and for welcoming us into your spaces and trusting us to share conversations around gut health, food, and the very real human side of wellness. And a special thank you to .brew for supporting the experience by bringing tastings to our talk—it added such a fun, nourishing layer to the evening. Being able to laugh, taste, learn, and connect with your communities is truly a dream come true for us at Aya. Community health is at the heart of what we do—and this is exactly how it comes to life.

Cooking doesn’t have to feel like another task to survive.
Tonight I dimmed the lights, unplugged from my phone, and let dinner be a moment instead of a stressor.

Printing my recipes for the week means fewer notifications, fewer decisions, and more presence in the kitchen.
Lower lighting helps my nervous system stay regulated.
Chopping, stirring, and tasting becomes grounding instead of overstimulating.

This is what “mindful eating” actually starts with—mindful cooking.
Not perfection. Not aesthetics. Just creating an environment your body feels safe in.

If cooking feels exhausting or overwhelming, it’s not a personal failing.
It’s often just too much input at once.
You’re allowed to change the conditions.

Sometimes food as medicine looks like a perfectly planned meal…
And sometimes it looks like Dr. Jeffrey chopping a big bowl of parsley to brighten up a winter dish she wasn’t that excited about.

At Aya, we love the idea of food as healing — but not in the rigid, “get it perfect” kind of way.
It’s not about purity, restriction, or earning your health through flawless eating.

It’s about small acts of care.
Adding something fresh and vibrant to an ordinary meal.
Noticing how food makes you feel — physically and emotionally.
Letting nourishment be simple, flexible, and joyful.

Food can support health, absolutely. But it can also be connection, comfort, and creativity… even when the meal isn’t perfect.

Here’s to making the most of what we have, one handful of parsley at a time. 🌿

Bloating. Low energy. Food reactions.
If gut health feels confusing or overwhelming, you’re not alone.

Most people are told to cut more foods or add more supplements — but real gut health starts with understanding how digestion actually works.

This January, we’re hosting two interactive gut health events where you’ll taste, learn, and walk away with clear, realistic strategies you can use right away. No extremes. No lectures. Just science-backed tools that fit real life.

Join us on
Jan 22 at Seacoast Athletics in Hampton (6:30–8:00 PM)
or
Jan 28 at Throwback Brewery, Jericho’s Landing (6:00–7:30 PM)

Whether you’re dealing with digestive symptoms or just want to feel better in your body, this is for you.

What if food prep wasn’t just something to check off your list—but a ritual that helped settle your nervous system?

In this reel, Dr. Silva’s brother—Arequipa-based psychologist and founder of the beloved sourdough bakery .aqp—shares how baking bread became a grounding, mindful practice in his daily life. It’s a reminder that food as medicine doesn’t always come in the form of restriction or rules. Sometimes, it’s the way you move your hands through dough. The scent of something rising in the oven. The simple, daily act of care that nourishes you long before you take a bite.

Whether you’re making soup, prepping your kids’ lunch, or stirring a pot of rice—what shifts when you bring your full attention to the moment?

Let’s be real. “Food as medicine” has a branding problem.

When you hear the phrase, you might picture a sad desk salad or a fridge full of things that cost more than your car payment. But that’s not what we’re talking about here.

At Aya, food as medicine means this:
🥣 Flavorful meals that support your body.
🥑 Recipes passed down in your family that still make you feel good.
🥕 Nourishment that fits into your real, messy life.

It’s not about being a wellness robot—it’s about feeling well enough to live the life you want.

This season invites us to slow down — not just in our schedules, but at the table.

Mindful eating isn’t about rules or perfection.
It’s about presence.
About noticing the warmth of a meal, the flavors you love, the people you’re sharing it with.
About choosing foods that feel connected — to the season, to local growers, to traditions that ground you.

In the middle of busy days and full calendars, the table can become a refuge of stillness.
A place to breathe.
To savor.
To come back into your body.
You don’t need to change what you eat to practice mindful eating.
Just how you arrive.

This season, let meals be one of the places you slow down. 🤍

The holidays don’t have to be everything to be meaningful.
They don’t have to be packed, perfect, or exhausting.

This season, we’re inviting you to pause and ask: What do I actually love about the holidays?
Maybe it’s time with family, lingering over meals, and laughing around a game table.
Maybe it’s the magic and play — snow days, hide and seek, decorating the tree, or letting yourself feel a little childlike again.
Maybe it’s quiet moments by the fire with a book, or making a recipe that connects you to someone you miss.

Whatever it is for you — do more of that.
And give yourself permission to do less of the parts that leave you tapped out.

Protecting your energy isn’t selfish.
It’s how you stay present for the moments that matter most.

Wishing you a season that actually feels good 🤍

This time of year is loud. Ads promise a “new you” in 30 days, and suddenly it feels like you need the sauna, the red light, the ring, the tracker, the protocol—and a whole new life plan by January 1. But the truth is, the work that changes your health is usually unglamorous: the basics you repeat when no one’s watching. Consistent meals. Daily movement you actually enjoy. Sleep support. Nervous system regulation. Follow-through. Realistic goals. If you’re reflecting on your year right now, let it be an invitation to choose steady over extreme. You don’t need a reinvention. You need a plan you can live with.
