NH Dartmouth Family Medicine Residency

NH Dartmouth Family Medicine Residency NHDFMR combines excellent clinical training with an innovative personal development and leadership curriculum that prepares you to serve and lead.

Located in Concord, the capital of the Granite State, we are the only ACGME-approved family medicine program in the state. Our sponsoring institution is Concord Hospital, a regional medical center that serves a primary catchment area of 145,00 residents. Residents can elect to serve patients in two different clinic settings. The Family Health Center in Concord is the educational home to 18 of our

residents while 6 residents practice in Hillsboro, a more rural option. We also offer an exciting opportunity to combine traditional family medicine training with Dartmouth Hitchcock's Leadership Preventive Medicine Residency.

Congratulations to our very own program director, Dr. Dominic Geffken, on being honored as the Family Physician of the Year at the 2026 NHAFP annual conference!

A servant leader, mentor, advocate, and physician, Dr. Geffken has shaped generations of residents and transformed care for communities across New Hampshire through compassion, humility, and action. From being lifted up by our current PGY3s, to accepting this well-deserved award, to celebrating alongside residents past and present, this photo series captures just a small glimpse of the impact he has had on so many of us.

We are incredibly grateful to learn from and work alongside him every day. Congrats, Dr. Geffken, this award is so well deserved. 💚

What does [Systems] mean to us? 🤔

It’s one of our most unique—and most asked about—parts of the NH Dartmouth Family Medicine experience. In this video, our residents share what [Systems] means to them: a space for connection, growth, and becoming more thoughtful, well-rounded physicians. 🩺

What exactly is our [Systems] curriculum—and why is everyone asking about it? 👀

Hear from Dr. Andy Valeras, DO, MPH, as he breaks down one of the most unique and defining features of our program. From big-picture thinking to real-world application, this is where medicine meets systems-level impact.

Welcome to the newly renovated Concord Family Health Center—home to the NH-Dartmouth Family Medicine Residency clinic and the future of compassionate, community-centered care.

Where training meets purpose, and patients become family. 💙🏥

We all love long walks on the beach… Our PGY3 class spent their final [Systems] weekend in Old Orchard Beach and Portland, Maine! Delicious food, late-night dancing, and classic East Coast sunrises included. A little coffee, a lot of laughs, and the life-long friendships residency quietly gives you. 🌊☕️🍀

Our PGY1s just finished their first block of [Systems], NHDFMR’s unique curriculum for development of the mindful, capable, humanistic physician. All the resident classes enjoy reconnecting with their cohort during the biannual [Systems] blocks, and weekend trips have become a resident-led program tradition! 🌿🩺🌎
