Hello,
I would like to share about myself and why I am running for the school board seat for District C. I am a resident of district C in Concord which incorporates Wards 8, 9, and 10. I share my life with my wife( Amy Girouard), my 16 year old step son Joshua Girouard, my 10 year old step-daughter, Ally Girouard, our dog Geno and cat, Mr. Whiskers. My reason to run for school board is story of family and values. I married my wife 7 years ago, and became a father to a 9 year old boy and a 3 year girl who had lost their father at a young age of 39 from cancer following service to his country. Josh is now 16 and is thriving at Concord High School with his academics as well as in theatre. Ally has a neurogenetic disorder called Angelman syndrome and is now 10 years old. She is fully included at Broken Ground School and is truly part of the academic and social community. She also attends Girls Inc. for a couple of days after school. Both kids also attended Beaver Meadow school. Our family has been embraced by the people of Concord through this amazing journey and I will work hard to insure that all families and every student in the district has a passion for learning and continues to receive a top-notch education in an environment that supports and nurtures them as well. This can be done through new and innovative ways to adapt the curriculum through technology as well as access to full day kindergarten. All members of society are included in education such as as the LGBTQ community, New Americans, students who experience physical, developmental or mental disabilities, families that have been ravaged by the opioid crisis and middle class American families that are struggling to get by. Education is an issue that crosses party lines and can bring all of us together. I am the Executive Director of The Birches at Concord. We are a memory care community that focuses on the well-being of the person that experiences dementia. I have had twenty years professional experience leading healthcare organizations to provide quality care to seniors in a cost-effective, fiscally responsible way. I can bring this practice to the school board as well. My commitment to district C is to be a good steward of the taxpayer dollars while insuring through innovation that the Concord School district embraces our granite state values of quality education and inclusion for all students and families.
