Qigong Massage for Autism

Qigong Massage for Autism A page for those interested in learning more about Qigong Massage for Autism.I am a Qigong instructor trained by the New England School of Tai Chi.

I am trained by Dr. Louisa Silva as a parent trainer in her Qigong Massage targeted to treat autism. A Qigong Massage is a daily routine to treat your child with Autism. It works by relaxing and regulating the nervous and sensory systems allowing a child to process information and develop more typically. It takes 15 minutes a day to deliver the massage and over a period of weeks you will start to notice results. Some results are better eye contact, more speech or vocalization, more typical play, better able to express needs, calmer, potty training, more social behavior and better able to comply at home and school.

Dr. Louisa M.T. Silva
Sept. 29, 1954 - Jan. 2, 2018

Dr. Louisa M.T. Silva, was born in London, England Sept. 29, 1954 and passed away peacefully in Salem, Jan. 2, 2018. Her family migrated to Australia when Louisa was eight. Five years later the family left Australia for the United States. She lived in California through her teen years and attended UCLA undergraduate and medical schools. Louisa did a short stint in rural Kentucky, working in a local clinic before moving to Oregon. She moved to Salem in 1981, joining Drs. Morrison and Holme in their family medicine practice. One New Year's Eve, she had a dream of a clinic named for Our Lady of Guadalupe. Thanks to enormous support from the community, the clinic opened a year later, and is still open. Dr. Silva opened her own practice in the 1990's with an emphasis on Chinese medicine and acupuncture. Over the years she became interested in researching and treating Autism, which became her passion. She ultimately founded Qigong Sensory Training Institute (Q.S.T.I.) for the training of a massage technique for treatment of symptoms of Autism. She wrote several books on Autism and Downs Syndrome treatment. She retired recently due to health issues.

Now that it is back to school, are you getting into a routine doing the daily massage? What is working? What is not working for you? Do you do it at bed time? In the morning? After school?

How are you managing your self care while doing the massage? Do you have your own qigong routine to keep your energy balanced? How about your body position? Do you do the massage on the floor? Bed? or Massage table? Do you find you are leaning over or are you comfortable when doing the massage. Are you making sure you meet your own needs as well as your childs.
