Happy SOILwork Sunday: When Growth Moves in Every Direction
This is a photo from my front porch - my quiet way of welcoming fall. The air shifts, the light softens, and the world seems to breathe a little slower. Fall doesn't ask us to let go; it invites us to trust what's coming next. How are we moving...
These two green beauties caught my eye this morning. One spills freely, reaching outward as if it cannot be contained or contain its joy! The other stands tall, unbothered, chasing the last rays of the season. Notice that they share the same space but not the same soil - two pots, two needs, one harmony.
WHERE THEY THRIVE
They prefer the gentleness of bright, indirect light. A little humidity, a little patience.
The spiller enjoys moisture and room to flow; the thriller likes to breath between drinks, its roots craving pause before the next pour. Together, they make my porch feel alive, vibrant - a quiet duet of balance.
WHO THEY REFLECT
These plants mirror the souls who adapt without fanfare - those who stand tall through storms but never forget to reach sideways for connection. The dreamers and doers who remind us that thriving doesn't always look the same.
You can be still and expanding.
Grounded and growing.
YOUR TURN 🍂
Can you guess what these two plants are? (Hint: one spills with grace, the other stands bold.)
Tag a friend/colleague who reminds you of one of these plants - or share what's growing on your own porch this fall. How are you still and expanding/grounded and growing?
Because every leaf, every root, every reach upward is another way of saying: "I will not be silent - I'm still here. Even micro-aggressions can be composted into wisdom."
Healing isn't always loud - sometimes it's soil work, community, and quiet courage.
