Our members enjoyed an enriching visit to San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, exploring contemporary artwork, vibrant galleries, and large-scale installations. From navigating the museum space to sharing thoughts and reactions, this outing encouraged independence, curiosity, and meaningful social connection.

Experiences like this help build confidence, expand cultural awareness, and support creative self-expression, all while having fun together in the community. 💙

✨ A little magic in the city. ✨

Our members spent the day exploring the Walt Disney Family Museum in San Francisco—soaking in the sunshine, enjoying the beautiful weather, and stepping into the rich history behind the mouse that started it all. From early animation sketches to immersive exhibits, members engaged with storytelling, creativity, and innovation while learning how one idea can grow into something world-changing.

This trip was more than a museum visit—it was a chance to connect with history, spark imagination, and enjoy the simple joy of being out in the community together. 🐭🌉

Animation Station is officially live; one of the newest groups in our brand-new Multimedia Department at ALC’s Learning Lab Media Studio!

Members are diving into digital illustration, animation, and visual storytelling using professional-grade equipment and software. From sketching original characters to learning the foundations of animation, this group is building real-world creative and vocational skills in a space designed just for them.

This is what access, innovation, and empowerment look like.

🌱🐐 ALC at Clayton Valley Farms! 🐓🌻

Our members had an amazing day exploring Clayton Valley Farms; meeting friendly animals, learning where food comes from, and soaking up the joy of being outdoors. Thank you Clayton Valley Farms for the tour and the opportunity. From feeding goats to discovering how farms operate, this visit blended nature, education, and hands-on fun in the best way.

🌿🎨 Nature becomes art in our NatureScape program!

Using leaves from the ALC garden, members explored texture, shape, and color to create one-of-a-kind botanical prints. From tracing natural forms to layering vibrant paint, each piece reflects creativity rooted in the world around us.

This hands-on experience encouraged mindfulness, curiosity, and personal expression—inviting members to slow down, observe nature, and transform what they see into something uniquely their own.

🪡🧵 Fabrics & Textiles in Action! 🧶✨

Our newest group is off to a beautiful start! In Fabrics & Textiles, members are diving into the world of fiber arts—exploring yarn, fabric, thread, and tools to create original designs inspired by texture, pattern, and personal style. From loom weaving to hand sewing, every session offers hands-on opportunities to build focus, creativity, and confidence.

Members are learning how different materials feel, stretch, and connect, while turning simple fibers into meaningful works of art. This group blends self-expression with skill-building, giving everyone a chance to slow down, create, and take pride in something made by hand.

We can’t wait to see where their imaginations take them next!

Our members had an amazing visit to Hiller Aviation Museum, where learning truly took flight! 🚁✨

During the visit, members explored the rich history of aviation, discovered how aircraft and helicopters have evolved over time, and learned about career pathways and vocational training opportunities in aviation, engineering, mechanics, and aerospace technology.

Trips like these support our commitment to hands-on learning, career exploration, and community-based experiences that empower members to connect their interests with real-world opportunities.

Our members had the sweetest time spreading holiday cheer in the kitchen with our amazing volunteer Marilyn 🎄🍪

From mixing and rolling to baking and sharing lots of laughs, this holiday cookie baking day was all about teamwork, creativity, and building independent living skills in a fun, festive way. Huge thank-you to Marilyn for volunteering her time and helping make this meaningful (and delicious!) experience possible for our members. 💛

🛍️ Building Independence, One Thrift at a Time!

Our Sunday Nifty Thrifties group had a fantastic day at Thrifty Bargain in Fairfield, practicing real-world skills that support adult independence. Members explored a large, well-organized store, compared prices, made thoughtful purchasing decisions, and managed their own budgets—all while having fun.

Lucy proudly found a meaningful gift for her mom and treated herself to a new shirt, all for under $10! From hunting for unique treasures to making confident choices, outings like this empower adults to navigate community spaces, build confidence, and take ownership of everyday decisions.
