Giving back to the community that supports us ❤️

Yesterday, Next Step Living residents volunteered at the Corban Center in Concord helping serve community meals.

We believe structure, accountability, and community go hand in hand and we are proud to see our residents stepping up to help others.

Thank you to the Corban Center and the City of Concord for all you do.

Giving back is part of building community.

Yesterday, several residents from Next Step Living spent time volunteering at the Corban Center in Concord, helping serve others during the Center’s weekly community lunch program operated by CenterPoint Church.

The City of Concord has been so good to Next Step Living, and it is important to us that we give back to the community that has supported our mission from the beginning.

We are proud of our residents for stepping up, giving back, and showing that recovery and stability also mean becoming part of something bigger than yourself.

Thank you to the Corban Center for the important work you do for our community every week. ❤️

It takes a community to make a difference and today we want to recognize an incredible group of people who stepped up to support Next Step Living through Facebook fundraising donations.

Every contribution helps us continue our mission of supporting adults with developmental disabilities as they build independent and meaningful lives.

We are especially excited as we begin planning for a new outdoor space for our residents and families to enjoy together. Support like this helps turn ideas like that into reality.

We also want to give a special thank you to Peter Clarke for choosing Next Step Living as part of a birthday fundraiser. Using a birthday to give back and support a local nonprofit is an incredibly meaningful gesture and we truly appreciate it.

Thank you to every person who donated and supported these fundraisers. Your kindness and generosity make a real difference for our residents and families. ❤️

At Next Step Living, we’re reminded every day that it truly takes a community to support our mission.

We want to extend a sincere thank you to 𝗧𝗼𝗺 𝗥𝗼𝗰𝗵𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲, 𝗼𝗳 𝗥𝗼𝗰𝗵𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲 𝗧𝗮𝘅 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗗𝗲𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗶𝗲𝗹𝗱, for generously donating their time and expertise to help us prepare and file our financial statements with the State of New Hampshire.

For a small nonprofit, this kind of support makes a real difference. It allows us to stay focused on what matters most — supporting our residents and helping them build independent, meaningful lives.

We are incredibly grateful for partners like you who believe in our work and step up to help make it possible.

Thank you for being part of the Next Step Living community.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲?

A job in the community.
Responsibilities at home.
A routine that builds confidence every single day.

This photo was taken during a shift at Concord Hospital.

Up early. Out the door. Showing up.

Then back home—to clean, to reset, to keep building independence.

And later, cooking dinner alongside others.

This isn’t something that was given.

It’s something that’s being earned.

And that’s what makes it so powerful.

One year ago, the doors opened at 𝐍𝐞𝐱𝐭 𝐒𝐭𝐞𝐩 𝐋𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠.

Since then, something powerful has taken shape.

Residents have built routines.
Formed friendships.
Gained confidence.
Found a place that truly feels like home.

This is what happens when independence is paired with the right support.

It’s not just housing—it’s dignity, belonging, and opportunity.

And while we’re proud of what’s been built over the past year, the reality is this:

There are many more individuals and families still waiting for something like this.

At Next Step Living in Concord, we’re working to create housing where adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities can live independently while remaining connected to their community.

We’re grateful to the Greater Concord Chamber of Commerce for highlighting this work and helping bring attention to the need for more inclusive housing in New Hampshire.

Thank you to Dillon Clark and Bryanna Marceau for the thoughtful interview.

If you believe New Hampshire should expand housing opportunities for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, please consider sharing this post to help raise awareness.

When addressing housing in New Hampshire, it is important to consider and support intentional choices that support independent living opportunities. Almost one year ago, we opened the doors at Next Step Living in Concord.

Today, adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities are living in their own apartments, building friendships, working in the community, and becoming part of downtown life.

This would not have been possible without the incredible support of our corporate partners, who believed in this vision and helped turn it into reality.

As we approach our one-year anniversary, we simply want to say thank you for helping create a place where independence, dignity, and community come together.

We are deeply grateful for your partnership.

Cleveland, Waters and Bass, P.A., Warrenstreet Architects, Inc., JH Spain Commercial Services, Burke Advertising, Minuteman Security & Life Safety and the Elliot Perry Foundation.

If you’ve visited Next Step Living this year or met one of our residents, we’d love to hear what the community means to you.
