Itโ€™s Grateful Friday! ๐Ÿ˜ This will be an example of how simple (but powerful) gratitude can be.

Today, Iโ€™m grateful for having a warm breakfast this morning with a cup of coffee. ๐Ÿฅโ˜•๏ธ
It helped me have a good start to the day and allowed me to stay focused and energized for the meetings/tasks I had to complete.

Simple maybe, but thatโ€™s the thing about gratitude. If we pause and reflect on these โ€œsimpleโ€ moments, we can find things we didnโ€™t notice before. Things we may be grateful for.

Awareness of what you do and why you do it can be an important step in changing things for yourself.

One small step you can take could be keeping track of new situations/relationships and noticing (and maybe journaling) what you usually do when these new things come up.

Obviously, self-sabotage can be complicated and can take time to change.

Seeking professional support around this can be exactly what you need. Search for the right person to help you out!

Whether itโ€™s high school, college, or pros, itโ€™s hard to stop doing something you love and probably created an identity around (but youโ€™re more than just an athlete ๐Ÿ˜‰).

When grief comes, itโ€™s normal. Feel it. What you had was real.

Also, in the case of athletes, your life isnโ€™t over now. Now we adjust and see how we apply all the skills weโ€™ve learned to thrive in this thing called life.

This week, Iโ€™ve been thinking about ๐š๐œ๐œ๐ž๐ฌ๐ฌ. Itโ€™s Grateful Friday folks so letโ€™s get into it!

When it comes to ๐š๐œ๐œ๐ž๐ฌ๐ฌ we can see different things. For me, Iโ€™m grateful Iโ€™m able to access food, shelter, healthy people, supportive people, education, entertainment, fresh water, and healthcare when I need it. Iโ€™ve actually been able to access all these things this week.

I know there are people who donโ€™t have access to these things or if they do they canโ€™t just access them whenever they want.

And Iโ€™m only talking about physical access. What about folks who have physical access to, for example, mental health professionals but mentally they feel like they canโ€™t or shouldnโ€™t reach out for help?

Access can have layersโ€ฆ

So the challenge is to look at and find gratitude in the access you have to different things.

*Bonus challenge is to think about helping your neighbor (not just physical neighbor) due to the access you have.

Itโ€™s a SPOOKY ๐Ÿ‘ปFriday and itโ€™s still Grateful Friday!

Right now, Iโ€™m so grateful for spaces that are fun and safe for kids. I participated in a ๐…๐”๐ Trunk-or-Treat event this past week, but itโ€™s not just about that. Itโ€™s about the different spaces Iโ€™ve seen created for kids by my supervisees.

The folks I supervise know that if a child doesnโ€™t feel safe or welcome in their office then doing โ€œthe workโ€ will be very challenging.

When you see a child fully being themselves then you know youโ€™ve created an environment where they are safe enough to do that. ๐Ÿ˜

Itโ€™s important to set goals AND after we do that we have to come back to the present to see what our small step toward those goals look like.

Btw, your goals donโ€™t have to be physical (losing weight, gaining weight, getting stronger, getting faster, buying a house, buying a car, etc).

Your goals can include the non physical as well (Communicating more clearly and intentionally, navigating emotions in a healthy way, expressing emotions in general, restructuring your mindset, etc).
