Let’s talk about children on this Grateful Friday! 😁

I’m so grateful for children, but more specifically (and quite importantly) their adaptability and resilience. As a therapist, I’ve worked with (and continue to work with) children who have experienced all sorts of trauma and challenging experiences.

Seeing how these experiences affect the children is heartbreaking 💔 𝓐𝓝𝓓 witnessing how they learn to regulate themselves, gain healthy relationships (with other people AND themselves), and move forward in life is so encouraging🙌🏾.

This is not to say that adults can’t be resilient. We’re just focusing on children today. We can learn a lot from them and how (with the right support) they can bounce back. 🐰😄

Nothing wrong with looking back.

The problem comes when we get stuck there or when we’re constantly looking back because we’re afraid of what’s ahead.

Try taking a peak at the past and being curious about what you can gain or learn from it. Then come back to the present and see how you can apply what you’ve learned.

This week has felt like two weeks 😩 AND we still have time for 𝓰𝓻𝓪𝓽𝓲𝓽𝓾𝓭𝓮 😊. Welcome back to Grateful Friday!

Have you ever moved or changed schools/work and you had to make new friends? This week, I’m grateful for 𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲. Sometimes, people have thoughts like:

“Am I betraying my old community?”
“What if my new community doesn’t like me?”
“Only a small group of people really get me.”
“What if I get close then have to leave again?”

These thoughts are pretty normal at first. But we don’t stay there!

I 𝙇𝙊𝙑𝙀 my old community AND I’m adding a new community to the mix. It feels good to have that sense of belonging and support. So I’m grateful for the old and new additions to my circle. 😁

Today or this week, what will be your focus?

Being mindful about what you’re doing can enhance the quality of whatever you’re doing. Remember that.

Another day. Another moment. A moment for gratitude. Welcome to Grateful Friday! 😁

This week, I’m grateful for singing and dancing! I’m no expert in either category 😬, but I love to do these things. 🕺🏾

I think it was Tuesday this week when the day just seemed long and challenging. At the end of the day (like 9:30/10pm), I put YouTube on my TV and sang to a few songs that really had my heart going. It was exactly what I needed to end that day.

Remember, you have permission to give yourself what you need. 😊

But now what do you do? 🤷🏾‍♂️

This applies to so many things, not just school.

I remember a time when I was confused about a certain coverage (American football stuff🏈) and I asked my coach for help so I could understand it more and help the team. My coach totally helped out! Not only that, but by me asking for support it gave other teammates the permission to “not know” and come in for support with me.

So yeah, it’s okay to not have all the answers but what’s going to be your next step?

You want a moment for gratitude? Well you’ve come to the right place. Welcome to Grateful Friday!

This week I had a couple disappointing things happen and I’ve been exhausted nearly every day.

I’m sure you can relate.

It was hard to be grateful every day and I still managed to do it.

Overall though I’m grateful for the people that remind me of certain truths that I forget about when I’m not 100%.

“You haven’t failed. This is a setback and you can keep going”
“You’re smart.”
“You’re capable.”
“You’re loved. In the ups and downs, you’re loved.”

Hearing these statements energized me in a way. It’s what I needed to hear this week. I hope you get the message you need too soon. 😊❤️

A new day is just another opportunity. Opportunity for what? Well honestly, that’s up to you.

How will you handle stress today?
How will you reflect today?
How will celebrate small wins today?

A new day has come, how will you walk through it.
