Located in Wi******er, Virginia, Wi******er Comprehensive Treatment Center (CTC) provides opioid addiction treatment on an outpatient basis, using medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to help adults achieve long-term recovery from opioid use disorder. This research-backed approach combines prescription medication with individual and group counseling. Depending on a patient’s specific needs and recovery goals, they may receive a prescription for a medication such as methadone or buprenorphine. When taken as directed as part of a MAT protocol, methadone and buprenorphine aid in easing distressing opioid cravings and painful withdrawal symptoms. The counseling component of MAT supports our patients in making essential behavioral and lifestyle changes. Patients can also process any painful or distressing emotions or experiences that may have been barriers to their recovery, and they will learn critical coping tools that can help them resist future relapse. This whole-person approach to opioid use disorder treatment addresses addiction from multiple angles, improving a person’s chances of remaining in treatment and achieving lasting recovery.
