The little lady in this picture is 18 years old today. My kids are the main reason I became a doula. My deliveries were not ideal. Nothing horrible happened but it could have gone better. We were young when we had our kids. I was in the mind set that the doctor knew best and to just do whatever he said. I trusted him and if he told me to lay in the bed that is what I did. When he told me he could try and help me get this sweet little lady out by manually rotating her head with no pain medication I said sweet, do whatever you want. Three tried later and she rotated back each time. She knew, babies know how they need to come out and for whatever reason that was the way she needed to come out.
Little did I know I could have moved around and tried to get her into a better position myself. I could have done spinning babies to help rotate her sunny side entrance. I could have moved around to help with the pain. I could have done things so different, IF I would have known, but I didn't!
So, my goal as your doula is to provide you with all the information. for any situation. I want to make sure you are informed, educated, and supported. I want you to feel loved, cared for and empowered! My job as your doula is to support you and your partner in having the best possible birth. I will be there every step of the way holding your hand, cheering you on and never giving up on my promise that I've got you and you got this!

Your body can do amazing things! Look at that sweet baby!

This is also one of my favorite things to watch. I love the gentle touch of the partners hand, the sweet commentary, I love the love.

One of my favorite things to notice is the dynamic of the couple. Sometimes they’re hilarious, joking all the way through. Sometimes they’re serious. Sometimes scared. Sometimes extra polite. Sometimes swearing up a storm (that was me 😅). But almost always super supportive and lovey! This job is the best!

I went to pick up some education materials that I have made for partners of doula clients today. This was the note I found on the invoice! This was just the encouragement I need today to know my work matters and is important!
I love love love preparing mamas for labor and delivery but I also love preparing the partners on what to expect! Hiring me as your doula will not replace your partner. Hiring me will prepare them to be the best labor partner they can be. They will learn what to do when contractions start, how to best support you during the intense moments and maybe most importantly what not to say or do. Along with all the ins and outs of what to expect and what to do if things get challenging. I want to make sure they are as involved as they want to be.
The connection between you and your partner during labor and delivery is so important. It was that love and connection that brought you together to this very important day. I do everything I can to protect those moments and that connection.

As your doula, I want you to have the ability to birth without fear. I want to answer all your questions, work through all your worries and prepare you in the best possible way for your birth. I want you to feel loved, supported and educated. I want you to have the best birth, whatever way that is for you. Birth does not have to be feared. Having the right support is key to having a wonderful pregnancy, labor, birth and postpartum. I would love to be a part of your journey!
