Demoing has begun in the funeral home where the damage is at. As you've driven by you may have seen the dumpster being filled with old carpet, all the furniture that was destroyed and so on.
You also may have seen Service Masters here from morning to afternoon.
Service Masters has been wonderful and working so diligently to clean from ceiling to floor and tidy up where it wasn't affected in our main back viewing rooms. And they've been so progressive with the demo. Just today the amount they've done has blown our minds.
Once the demo is done, the reconstruction will start ASAP. We will finish the main areas of the funeral home to get them back up and running first and foremost so they're no longer blocked off and they will focus on the roof. The 2nd and 3rd floor will then become priority.
While all of this is taking place, please know we are still open to serve and will be throughout all of this process. That will never stop. 💙💙💙
And again we thank everyone for their love, support and understanding.
We will update as we make more and more progress. We want to make sure we bring you all along during this. 💙

Don't Lose Hope. 💙
Thank you to Malory from Live 4 Tomorrow Today with this photo that was taken during the fire.
We have their sign at the front of the funeral home to spread awareness and to let everyone know if they're struggling to not lose hope.
And here, this sign is a reminder to us during this time.
The fire, the firemens hat, the ladder, the empty water bottles, the water hoses going into the funeral home, the broken out windows, the damage.
But then there's the sign - "Don't Lose Hope". Untouched, just as the crucifix found on the 3rd floor that was untouched.
Remember to never lose hope.
While there may be darkness, there's always a light.
There's always hope.

While there is tremendous loss, our funeral home will be restored with the hope of retaining as much of the original woodwork and architecture inside and out.
While change can be scary, we realize that change is also something good especially with how lucky and blessed we are. While we look at all the damage, we know that won't be there permanently. We know how much worse this could have been.
Now we can look at the damage and see there is hope and a future.
No matter what, the care, respect, integrity and dignity will always be there from us.
We will begin repairs to reopen the front portion of the funeral home where the damage is present in due time. Multiple floors will be rebuilt from the 3rd floor down to the basement. With insurance adjusters already prepping and handling everything.
The funeral home will NOT be closed during this time. We are able to still operate.
All we ask for is patience, understanding and prayers while we navigate all of this.
We want our Community to know
your loved ones will always be safe and cared for with the same dignity and respect as we are known for at Fink's.
And again we thank everyone again and again: Our Community. Our family and friends. All the firemen, paramedics, police officers. Our neighbors, our colleagues.
Everyone who has called or messaged us.
Thank you will never be enough.
And we hope you all can see the hope and future too.
We promise we aren't going anywhere
Paul and Marilyn Fink's Legacy will continue to live on, just with some updates and changes inside and out.
We love the Community we serve and we will always be here, just as you all have been here for us during this time.

*Update!: Both cats are safe and at the vet.*
QUICK STATEMENT:
Firstly, we are SAFE!
The funeral home did catch fire today. There were no loved ones in the funeral home at the time.
The fire started in the most upper floors and was kept contained to the 3rd floor. There is severe damage to the 2nd floor where Dennis resides and on the main floor from the water and smoke. We are going to close off the front of the funeral home and are going to do some major cleanup and clearly some major construction will occur.
The back main viewing rooms, bathroom, and lounge and embalming room are safe from damage and we will still be open to serve our community.
We just ask for understanding during this time.
We've also had many of our local funeral homes reach out for support for if we need to use their facilities and even some of them stopped to make sure if we needed anything.
For that we are so incredibly thankful.
We want to thank so many people and fire departments.
New Haven Hose.
Connellsville Twp.
Morrell.
Scottdale.
South Connellsville.
Dunbar.
Everson.
Pastor Upton and his church - for opening the doors to his church for us and the firemen.
Connellsville Police Department.
Fayette EMS.
Dr. Esposito's office.
To our neighbor who came and banged on the doors to make sure no one was inside the building.
To those who got our important paperwork and items out.
Those who helped come to move and collect up anything to save it from damage.
All our neighbors, friends and family members and anyone else we may have missed, we appreciate you all so much. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
We are eternally grateful to you all.
-
We ask for prayers for the firemen taken to the hospital while helping keep our funeral home standing. Our absolute respect goes out to you.
And for Bethany's dad who came to help and had a major medical event and is currently in the emergency room getting treated.
And for us as we navigate through this.
-
MISSING CAT:
Dennis is currently still missing his cat Sassy. We are unsure if she is upstairs on the 2nd floor or if she is on the main floor or got out the open doors. Please keep an eye out for a Tabby cat with a knocked ear.(will post a photo in the comments)
