This time of year-we can feel stuck. Depression can keep us in the past and anxiety demands we always prepare for the future. Exhausting!

Intentionality is the answer. Make a move. Doesn’t haven’t to be the perfect move, just a move. Give yourself permission to leave the past in the past and the future in the future. Be present.. be here, in this moment.

I know most of us feel pressure to have a fool-proof plan in place to make our lives better than ever this time of year with goals and resolutions. But, I think we have it backwards. This time of year is about taking care of yourself now, in the moment. Rest and reflection that leads to small steps to create momentum for goals and creativity that eventually bloom into something bigger!

But for now, just dare to take an imperfect step forward. Whatever that looks like for you. I promise it’s a step closer than you were before.

Listening to your needs? Honoring your limits? Saying no without guilt?!? Oh my 😵‍💫😱

Is this a foreign concept to you as it is to me sometimes? Before we can set boundaries with those around us, we have to learn to set them with ourselves first. Boundaries show others how we are willing to be treated. Let’s be kinder to ourselves and start working on strengthening (or developing) those boundaries together!

Su***de can be a scary and uncomfortable topic to talk about. It’s not always predictable but it is preventable. Sacrifice comfort for a short moment in your life to save someone else’s life. Ask those difficult questions. Check-in and reach out 🤝. You matter.

There is still time to plant your garden of transformation! This garden is always in season and will always bear fruit if given the right things to grow. This garden is YOU. So what will you need to get started? Obviously seeds, water, and sunlight but sometimes it’s the small or subtle things we do that create the most beautiful gardens. Boundaries, opportunities, consistency, compassion and my personal favorite Vulnerability! These are all tools for a healthy environment for us to grow in.

Vulnerability? For real? Yes! I’m so for real. Vulnerability is the act of allowing ourselves to try something new, build a skill, letting go, saying sorry, asking for help, meet people and let others in, or set up healthy limits and learn to say no to protect our peace. Being vulnerable is going out of our comfort zone, loosening that crippling grip we have on what we THINK makes us feel comfortable and cozy but is actually smothering us and stunting our growth. Could you totally fail and fall flat on your face? Uhh.. of course! But we have to work hard at changing the narrative or deep rooted beliefs that we are incapable, unworthy, unlovable or deficient in someway. Give yourself the chance to blossom! Even if it take 2, 5 or 27 times. You deserve it.

July has been an exciting but overwhelming month for me. I am learning new things as a tiny business owner every day! Mostly due to messing up but still learning nonetheless 😂 (I’m a social worker people, I know nothing about business). Amongst the excitement of things, I need to center myself and tell myself to slow down. I often feel like I’m moving too fast or too slow or I need to be here when I’m there, etc. Lots of emotions! I have got to remind myself that the only person I’m competing with is the person I was yesterday.. (and even she is still pretty alright 😉). So, this is me taking a pause and being grateful for where I am right now and moving one step at a time!

Anybody else get a bad case of the Sunday scaries? This girl does 🙋🏻‍♀️. Try implementing a pre-work/school ritual on Sunday evenings. This can include whatever you need to feel prepared but set time limits ⏰. Start/end your ritual at the same time each Sunday and check off your to-do list ✅. If you tend to be a worrier, set aside time in your ritual to worry. Sounds crazy right? 🤪.. but taking control of your worrying,(place, time and what you allow yourself to worry about) kicks anxiety in the butt and makes you the boss! Don’t forget those limits though.. we all need boundaries, even with ourselves! ❤️

This week had me all messed up 🤪
I’m looking forward to some downtime after playing catch- up this week. I would love to hear about how everyone implements self-care. What are your go-to strategies? I sleep in an extra hour (or two) on the weekends and make sure to spend some time in the sun ☀️. The sun is a great mood booster!
