Hello, friends. It’s been a long while since I’ve posted here on this page.

I am no longer in a season where I’m able to show up here regularly, or much at all.

I do sometimes post over on IG and in my IG stories, so feel free to look me up over there sometime if you’d like.

I plan to leave this page open so you can access past content, but I do not plan to update it moving forward.

Thanks for joining me here over the years. What a sweet space it has been!

Merry Christmas!

My account name over on Instagram is:

I ran into two old friends unexpectedly today. I haven’t gotten to see them in a few years and they’ve been walking through an impossibly difficult season. Illness and treatment and diagnosis and prognosis…I’m sure they’ve been ridiculously challenging waters to navigate.

However, as we spoke today- they testified of the good things that have come from it. They shared of the blessings they’ve seen, the progress that’s been made, the people who have loved them well, the prayer support they’ve received.

At one point my friend looked me in the eyes and said something like: “i wouldn’t have chosen this, but by the end of it, I’m going to be glad I didn’t miss it”.

Powerful.

It’s one thing to say that you trust God and that He’s good.
But to openly declare it in the middle of the hardest season of your life? That will preach like nothing else could.

This is the beauty of testimony, friends. Our faith gets to spur others on. Our declarations of the goodness we are finding in the valley gives others hope to keep walking through their own.

When we’re willing to share about all the good that He is doing, others will come to know more fully just how good He is. That’s He’s faithful. And that He can be trusted.

I’m grateful for friends who teach me so much. And I’m reminded again of the importance of sharing the good in the middle of the hard.

I started working a full-time job recently. I love it. Truly. I’m having the most fun. But also, it’s been an adjustment doing the new work plus the At-Home tribe, my local classes, family, church, friends, dealing with my injured back and hamstring, plus life in general.

I like to work. To create and produce. To hustle and run hard. I’m a 110% kind of girl.

But I’ve also learned over the years the importance of rhythms of rest. Of disconnecting and unplugging and slowing down. I’m not good at it, but I’ve learned I need it.

So today, I’m drawing a hard stop. I’ve put up my email responder, turned off all Voxer notifications, and will be giving myself permission to check out of the groups I lead for a few days.

Going to do my best to rest from the work so that I can be my best self and bring my best when I return.

I hope that you can find some time to do the same at some point in the coming days.

Merry Christmas, friends. Thanks to all of you who still choose to hang around here. I know I’ve been pretty absent, but I’m grateful we still get to connect at times.

May the Lord bless you and your families and may you and your families bless Him.

If you’ve ever been to any of my classes, you’ve heard me say this. Probably a lot.

And thanks to some sweet friends, I now have this reminder to hang in my office.

I end every class with these words: “With open hands and open hearts we say, ‘Here we are, send us’.”

And we mean it.

This has absolutely been the year of open hands and it’s absolutely been the year where I’ve had to fight with all I have to keep an open heart.

Good work has been done.
And good doesn’t mean easy.

Nothing is wasted. 💗
Amen.

Keep going, friends.

Just celebrated our TENTH Christmas together. It’s my most favorite class of the year where we drum, we dance, we kickbox, we reflect on what has been and we set our hopes on what is to come.

What a gift these ladies are.

If you’re local and want to join us in 2024, we’ve got room for you!

Started Wellness Witness back in 2014 not knowing quite what lie ahead.

Here we are almost 10 years later and I still don’t.

And I’m really glad.

Thanks to all of you who have supported this work (and my family) over the last (almost) ten years.

I’m really thankful.

Several times in the last week I’ve gotten to speak these words over friends facing hard situations. It’s a perspective shift and a reminder of truth that we need:

THIS IS WHAT YOU’VE TRAINED FOR.

When hard times come, we don’t have to panic. We don’t have to fear. We don’t have to run and hide or frantically try to fix everything. We show up and walk in peace and hope because THIS IS WHAT WE’VE TRAINED FOR.

We enter into hard places. It’s who we are.

The reps we’ve continued to get in each day add up and we’re stronger. Yes, maybe physically, but also emotionally. Mentally. Spiritually. The work He’s done in us when we’ve continued to press in and press on under difficulty has led to a transformation that is specifically equipped for hard times exactly like this.

When others run, we show up.
When others shrink back, we press in.
When others fall apart, we draw on the strength of the Lord inside of us and we GET BETTER.
When others may speak death, we speak life.
When others tear down, we build up.
When other despair, we proclaim truth.

Maybe not immediately, and maybe not every single time. But, we try again.

We rise to the occasion. We may feel the weight of the struggle but we DO NOT QUIT.

THIS is what we’ve trained for.

Looking for a place to train for this too? Check out the comments for the best little equipping corner of the Internet for women of faith who want to link arms and train for living well and loving well together.

After a three month break, I'M BACK!!!

If you're a local female looking for:
-a get-better community of faith-filled women
-a quick, effective workout for your heart AND your body
-a fresh start
THIS IS FOR YOU!

We meet in Conover at 5:30 am and we work until 6:05 or 6:10. The only equipment you'll need is a set of hand-weights and a mat (or beach towel). The type training we'll do is MOSTLY metabolic strength but we'll also do some choreographed strength, drumsticks, cardio kickboxing, intervals, and more.

You'll come for a workout but you'll leave having had time with an amazing group of women, a devotion to help start your day focused on the right things, an effective workout, and an encouraging word.

I know that 5:30 am is hard- believe me- I'm going to be struggling to get adjusted to it again, too, but I also know that when we carve out intentional time to do the things we know He's called us to do, He'll help us through it.

This class is easily adaptable to most fitness levels and our group has a wide range of ages, sizes, abilities, and backgrounds. Classes are donation based and if you want to join us, I've got a liability waiver form I'd love for you to fill out ahead of time.

Interested? Email: kara@wellnesswitness.com for more details or if you're ready to sign up.

I'm starting back MONDAY, SEPT 11th and will be leading every Monday and Wednesday. On Fridays you'll have an option to still attend and be led by some of the other amazing ladies in the group.

We'd LOVE to have you join us!!!
