This month marks 25 years since I founded Communiverse!
What many don’t know is that it began during one of the hardest times in my life—shortly after my father passed away, while I was in the depths of grief and depression.
What started as a small private speech therapy practice has grown into a vibrant community dedicated to communication, connection, and care.
25 years ago, I was in one of the darkest seasons of my life. My father had just passed away, and I fell into a deep depression. At the same time, major regulatory changes disrupted the work I loved—serving adults with traumatic brain injuries and neurogenic disorders. I felt lost, unsure of my next step.
While exploring new paths and working with a psychologist, I met a little boy who was non-speaking. That meeting changed everything.
Through him, something unexpected happened: I found my voice. Sitting in my therapist’s office, I started to name the emotions I had long buried—not just happy, sad, angry, or scared—but the complex, layered feelings I knew my non-speaking clients must carry too.
That was the beginning of Communiverse. A place where communication—spoken or otherwise—is honored, supported, and empowered.
Thank you to every family, every client, and every person who has walked this road with me. You’ve helped shape a practice built on empathy, healing, and connection.
Here’s to 25 years of finding our voices—together.
