As part of our continued growth, we are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Afterschool Teacher to join our team and help shape the minds and hearts of our students.
Position Overview
We are looking for a passionate and dynamic Afterschool Teacher to work with school-aged children in our after-school program. The ideal candidate will be energetic, responsible, and committed to fostering a positive, inclusive, and stimulating environment. The Afterschool Teacher will plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities, provide homework support, ensure children's safety, and communicate effectively with both children and their families.
Key Responsibilities
• Supervise and guide children during afterschool hours, always ensuring their safety and well-being.
• Develop and implement a variety of engaging and age-appropriate activities, including arts and crafts, games, group projects, and enrichment experiences.
• Assist children with homework assignments, reinforcing positive study habits and providing encouragement.
• Promote social-emotional learning by modeling respectful, kind, and inclusive behaviors.
• Actively participate in indoor and outdoor recreational activities to foster gross and fine motor development.
• Build positive and trusting relationships with students, helping them develop self-confidence and independence.
• Communicate regularly and professionally with parents and guardians, providing updates on children’s progress and well-being.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom environment in accordance with Kiddie Roundup’s health and safety policies.
• Collaborate with other teachers and staff to create a cohesive, supportive team environment.
• Attend staff meetings, professional development sessions, and special events as required.
• Document daily attendance, incidents, and behavioral observations as needed.
Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree or coursework in early childhood education, elementary education, child development, or a related field preferred.
• At least 1-2 years of experience working with children in a classroom, camp, or childcare setting.
• Strong organizational and leadership skills, with the ability to multitask and manage groups of children effectively.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
• Passion for working with children and supporting their growth and development.
• Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team.
• Patience, creativity, adaptability, and a positive attitude.
• Background check and fingerprint clearance required prior to employment.
Schedule and Compensation
• Part-time position: Monday through Friday, approximately 2:00 PM to 6:30 PM during the school year. Additional hours may be available on early dismissal or non-school days.

Essential Duties
• Arrive punctually and prepared for each shift.
• Set up and clean up daily activities and materials.
• Approach each child as an individual and adapt teaching methods to suit varied learning styles and abilities.
• Respond calmly and appropriately to challenging behaviors, employing positive guidance and conflict resolution techniques.
• Monitor the health and safety of all children, following established protocols for hygiene, allergy awareness, and emergency procedures.
• Model and reinforce healthy habits, such as handwashing, nutrition, and physical activity.
• Demonstrate professionalism, discretion, and respect for confidentiality at all times.
Skills and Competencies
• Strong understanding of child development principles and best practices in afterschool programming.
• Ability to inspire and motivate children through engaging lessons and activities.
• Flexibility and resourcefulness in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
• Commitment to inclusivity, equity, and respect for all backgrounds and cultures.
• Confidence in managing group dynamics and resolving conflicts constructively.
