Is it fall allergies or just a cold? Parents often wonder this time of year and we’ve seen an increase in questions around colds, viral illnesses, allergies, and fevers.

Here’s a simple way to tell:
🤧 Allergies usually mean itchy, watery eyes, sneezing, and a clear runny nose but *no* fever.
🤒 Colds often bring fever, body aches, and thicker mucus that goes away in about a week or two.

Both can make your child feel crummy, but the right care makes a big difference! At The Children’s Clinic of Conway & Greenbrier, our board-certified team helps families know what’s normal, what’s not, and when medications are necessary for adequate recovery.

If your kiddo has a high fever, ear pain, or symptoms that just don’t get better, we’re here for you!

🌟 Don’t wait and wonder. Call us.

The UAMS Milk Bank is experiencing a *critical shortage* of donor milk and is asking mothers with extra stored milk to consider donating.

Your gift of milk can make a life-saving difference for fragile and premature babies in NICUs across Arkansas and beyond.

Let’s come together as a community to help Arkansas babies grow and thrive! 🍼💚💫

Providing human milk saves the lives of fragile newborns who cannot get their own mother’s milk. Some mothers don’t have enough milk to feed their babies while they are in the hospital, but healthy breastfeeding mothers at home can help us make sure those babies continue to get human milk…

Do flu shots really work?
Every year parents debate this question, but pediatricians and pediatric providers do not. Here’s why… 👇🏼

The CDC and American Academy of Pediatrics confirm flu vaccines reduce the risk of severe flu illness by 40–60% each year. While no vaccine is perfect, flu shots turn what could be a dangerous infection into something far more manageable.

Choosing to be vaccinated helps protect those who are unable to receive the vaccine. This includes infants under 6 months and children with weakened immune systems or chronic health conditions.

When families choose vaccination, they provide an important layer of protection for their kiddos and other children.

The reality is that flu causes thousands of hospitalizations and deaths in the U.S. each year, even in otherwise healthy children. This is why our pediatricians and pediatric providers choose to vaccinate their own children and continue to advocate for the health of those in Central Arkansas and Faulkner County.

🫁 In 2024, RSV was the leading cause of hospitalization in babies under one. Flu season brought heartbreaking reminders of how serious these infections can be for children.

🎗️ September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.

Even when kids seem perfectly healthy, routine checkups with their pediatrician are an important way to keep them safe. These visits help us track growth, check development, and catch concerns early. Early detection can make all the difference. 💛

This month, we honor the children and families who inspire us with their strength, and we’re reminded why every visit matters.

💫🩺🥼 Dr. Chris Killingsworth, M.D., F.A.A.P., has been providing compassionate, board-certified pediatric care to families across Conway, Greenbrier, Central Arkansas, and surrounding communities for more than a decade.

A graduate of Catholic High School in Little Rock, Dr. Killingsworth earned his medical degree at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) and completed his pediatric residency at UAMS and Arkansas Children’s Hospital (ACH). Since joining our clinic in 2012, he has walked alongside families through every stage of childhood, from first checkups to teenage milestones.

Many families who began their journey with Dr. Killingsworth when their children were newborns now trust him with their teens — a testament to his dedication and the deep connections he builds with every patient.

Outside of the clinic, Dr. Killingsworth is a proud and dedicated girl dad to Lily and Nora. He and his wife Katy had always dreamed of being parents, and they consider the titles “Mom” and “Dad” among the most meaningful in their lives. 💚 That perspective shapes the way he cares for every child, as if they were his own. ✨
