This week the guys discussed the permanence of consequences. This was session #2 on decision making. We discussed the importance of premeditation before making a decision, to assist them in fully weighing the consequences that in many cases can be permanent. The guys were open in honest in sharing what they believe are motivating factors behind poor decision making despite prior warnings. Great job guys!

Tonight was very much an intervention. Therapist John directly addressed specific behaviors that some of the young men were dealing with as a result of some negative decisions. Great way to turn the night into a discussion on decisions, rewards and consequences. The guys were engaged and disagreed respectfully with one another on things and others spoke up more boldly defending the need for consequences even if they are remorseful and genuinely sorry for a poor decision. Great night guys!

This week the young men were asked to reflect on the relationships modeled before them growing up. The gears were turning tonight as a large number of the guys were already dating, or considering dating. They were encouraged to delay dating to focus primarily on schooling and extracurricular activities. They discussed lessons learned from those who already were and the importance of having and maintaining healthy boundaries when dating.

Tuesday night's group was all about overthinking - why we do it and how we stop. It's easy to overthink things like tests, the way we look, and what other people think of us. We had open and honest conversations about changing our focus to what's real without adding anything extra. Proud of these girls.
