Mary Fraser, basket maker extraordinaire is a graduate of Blazing Star.

Please consider donating to this fund she has set up, as a parent I cannot imagine anything worse than loosing a child

I am starting an infant and toddler casket community fund!
My pricing for infant and child caskets starts at $0.0. This is not because they’re cheap to make, it’s so that families who have to go through the pain of losing a child don’t have to also fork over large funds in order to have a meaningful and comforting burial ceremony. Here is a note from Michelle Acciavatti, Pregnancy Loss Guide and Founder of Vermont Forest Cemetery:
“Having to bury a baby is an almost unimaginable thing, but for parents facing that reality the option of a beautiful basket made by hand can help them feel like their baby will be given to earth in a loving and peaceful way. When I work with families who have lost a baby I do not charge for my services. Your donation makes it possible for me to provide Mary’s baskets to grieving families in a sustainable way”.

Please consider donating to the fund - email me through the website to do so. ❤️❤️❤️ forest.cemetery

Last chance to join BotanicWise program "The Tonic Way: An invitation to remember" featuring Guido Mase. It starts on thursday!

In The Tonic Way: An Invitation to Remember, Guido sheds fresh light on tonic herbs—plants that support our well-being every day. Rooted in both ancient wisdom and cutting-edge science, this series invites us to see the world differently: as a dynamic conversation between people, plants, and place.

Here, tonic herbalism shifts from fixing symptoms to fostering harmony, evolving from control to meaningful participation. Tonic thinking shifts the entire arc of care—Aligning herbal choices with rhythms, patterns, and long-term vitality.

Guided by Guido’s expertise, you’ll learn how to integrate tonic herbs into your clinical practice, community work, and personal life in a way that feels more grounded in ecological belonging.
I have said this before ,Guido's herbal teachings stand alone! You may remember his 2013 book "The Wild Medicine Solution" which I have used in all my appreticeships since then.

Step into the herbal encounter, where plants and people connect through the Gift Cycle. Here, we’ll explore resonance—it lives in the natural world, arising when patterns of flow are braided together—breath…leaf…pulse…root…people…plants. It orients us. It guides us toward healing all...

Next class:

Explorations and Creativity in Cyanotype
Sat March 14th
Conway MA

Join me as we turn the winter blues into art. Cyanotype is an early photographic process that transforms sunlight, water, and iron into luminous blue images. In this course we will explore the poetic possibilities of this camera-less process, using plants, light, and time as collaborators.

Through both traditional and experimental techniques—including wet and dry botanical cyanotypes—participants will create a rich collection of printed papers for collage, mixed media work, and artist bookmaking while discovering the surprising beauty and expressive potential of this historic photographic process.

UPDATE: The 2026 Botanical Art Apprenticeship begins on Sat April 29th and there is one space left.

I keep my classes intentionally small; both because of the intimacy of the studio and out of respect for the plants and places we will be in relationship with. For this reason it is important to my business to fill every space. Are you interested? do you know anyone who might be the perfect candidate?

If you’ve ever wanted to work with plants on paper or fabric—plant dyeing, ink and pigment making, plant-based paper making, and exploring alternative photo methods like cyanotype, lumen prints, and anthotypes—this program is for you! No need to be an artist or herbalist all welcome!
