This month's MVP Moment recognizes Contessa caregiver Aslim Amile, BSN, RN: a cornerstone of the High Acuity Care team in Hawthorne, NY who consistently demonstrates our Amedisys SPIRIT core values.

Colleagues often use one word to describe Aslim: exceptional. He embraces new protocols, mentors newer team members and continually refines his skills. His integrity, respect and calm presence earn the trust of patients, families and the care team.

“Aslim never loses sight of why he chose this profession,” says Nicole Vazquez, HAC Clinical Liaison, who nominated him for MVP. “He puts patients first, even during the busiest times, and goes above and beyond to ensure compassionate, personalized care.”

Thank you, Aslim, for inspiring your team and making a lasting impact on patients and families!

Heart failure is a major national health challenge. It remains the only cardiovascular disease that continues to rise, and it's the number one cause of hospitalization in adults over 65.

During Heart Month, we're highlighting our Heart Failure Empowerment Program designed for our home health patients. We help patients understand their disease, recognize early warning signs and adopt heart-healthy habits. A structured home health approach can help loved ones who are living with heart failure remain stable and out of the hospital.

Many families wonder what happens if they choose hospice and later feel it’s not the right fit. In hospice care, patient choice is always protected — including the right to stop care at any time, for any reason, even after services have begun.

Our latest blog explains how hospice eligibility, recertification and patient choice work, and what it looks like to discontinue or resume hospice if your goals or needs change.

Sometimes, the support you need most is the kind that comes right to your home. We’re honored to stand with patients and families when they need us most, delivering care that truly exceeds expectations.

02/17/2026

Sometimes it takes slowing down and sitting beside someone to remember what truly matters.

That’s what many of our hospice volunteers discover at Amedisys — the quiet, meaningful moments that bring purpose back into focus.

One of our volunteers recently shared how this experience has changed their life for the better, offering connection, gratitude, and a deeper appreciation for each day. Their story is a beautiful reminder that giving your time can be one of the most powerful gifts.

Congratulations to you Merrell. We are so grateful for all you do for our veterans community here in South Carolina!

Our very own SC/GA Regional Volunteer Coordinator, Merrell Lowe, was recently presented with the South Carolina Home Care & Hospice Association (SCHCHA) Hospice-Veteran Partnership Award. This distinction was granted as part of SCHCHA's 2024 H.O.M.E. (Honoring Outstanding Merit & Excellence) Awards, and recognizes a hospice employee who is a leader within their organization and community.

As Merrell's nominators shared, "The patients Merrell serves are thankful to have a fellow Veteran who understands the unique needs of a Veteran patient. He has helped lead the way for Regional Volunteer Coordinators around the country to find deeper and stronger connections with Veteran patients."

Congratulations, Merrell, on this incredible recognition! Thank you for your service, and for all the passion you bring to our team at Amedisys.
