Doula care is becoming a focal point in Arkansas as efforts to improve maternal health gain traction.

“Year after year, government data have shown that the maternal mortality rate in the United States remains unacceptably high, with Black and American Indian or Alaska Native pregnant and postpartum people disproportionately experiencing health inequities. The vast majority—roughly 80%—of maternal deaths are considered preventable, and nearly half of maternal deaths occur between seven and 365 days postpartum, not during delivery itself. But all of the resounding data about maternal deaths cannot capture the true scope and scale of those losses: the anguish felt by families who lose loved ones, the trauma endured by those with severe maternal complications, the emotional and financial cost of those recovering from severe maternal morbidity, the communities that are living with increasingly depleted health care resources, and the clinicians whose ethical obligations to their patients are compromised daily.” -ACOG

This is why we need an awareness day! I’ll share stats on maternal healthcare specific to Arkansas soon.

While we often think that more births make the process easier, sometimes it’s a wild ride—and Katelyn’s experience was just that! 🎢 Little Mister kept us all on our toes, but wow, did his mama show up with resilience and grace. 💪❤️

I’m so incredibly proud of Katelyn and honored to have been part of her birth team once again. 💕 With doulas and doctors working together, we made sure this birth ended safely and beautifully—without surgery! 🏆✨

✨ When Raynika walked into my office for a group prenatal consultation, she was immediately swept into a dance party with four other expecting mamas—and she didn’t miss a beat! She jumped right in, laughing and connecting like they’d been lifelong besties. My kind of woman! 💃🏽💞

Raynika was the definition of READY. As a first-time mom, she took every class, read every book, and did her own research to prepare for her dream home birth. During our sessions, I’d share education, and 9 times out of 10, she already knew it. That level of commitment and preparation paid off in the most beautiful way.

Her baby arrived just as she envisioned (well… minus the birth pool—things moved fast). Watching her confidence and strength unfold was pure magic.

I am beyond thrilled to share this amazing moment! My girl and her husband .yi are truly some of my absolute FAVORITE people! On December 14, 2024, just about a week past her due date, she brought her beautiful daughter into the world in the most awe-inspiring way—like a Hebrew woman from Exodus 1:19! After just an hour of regular contractions, she effortlessly welcomed her little one right into her daddy’s loving arms!

This family means the world to me, and I’m over the moon that we’ve experienced our second homebirth together! It’s such a privilege to play a part in supporting and empowering my incredible friends. What an unforgettable journey this has been! 💖✨

✨ Reflecting on the incredible births I was honored to support in 2024, and I can’t wait to share this one! is nothing short of amazing. From the moment we met (long before this pregnancy), I knew she was someone special. Her warm spirit, deep faith, and unwavering dedication to creating the most loving space for her baby girl truly inspired me.
