A new remote monitoring program allows patients with hypertension to track their numbers from home, with data sent directly to their care team. In a state where about one in three people have high blood pressure, this approach could make a meaningful difference.

Led by Dr. Thompson Barr, the program makes it easier to catch issues early and adjust treatment quickly. Because hypertension often has no symptoms, consistent monitoring is key to preventing serious conditions like stroke, heart attack and heart failure.

With simple, plug-in devices and support from the MUSC Center for Telehealth, patients can stay connected to their care without extra trips to the doctor.
