Role and Responsibilities
Must Be Bilingual in English and Spanish

• Performs ancillary testing and tasks (including but not limited to vaccines and injections, phlebotomy, PFTs, audiogram testing and respirator fit testing) as ordered by treating clinicians.
• Take patient histories and chief complaint, current medications, and height and weight
• Performs rapid screening tests (influenza, strep, COVID, mono, glucose, etc.)
• Prepares patients for physical examinations, including taking vital signs and performing all required testing.
• Responsible for performing routine medical procedures as ordered by treating clinician.
• Triages and dispositions all patients
• Assists providers during examination and treatment
• Applies bandages, dressings and splints as ordered by the treating clinician.
• Dispenses medications and appliances as ordered by the treating clinician and in accordance with state regulations.
• Maintains and operates all medical devices and equipment, including calibration and record keeping in accordance with current policy and procedures.
• Completes quality assurance activities on equipment and medical devices as well as testing processes used in the center.
• Maintains supplies, cleans rooms and equipment, and stocks exam rooms.
• Notifies supervisor immediately if equipment is not functioning properly, supplies are needed, or facility is not operating as expected.
• Manages patient flow and volume. Keeps patients informed of expected wait times
• Responsible for clerical tasks in back office associated with patient care and proper record keeping. Ensures accuracy in documentation.
• Maintain updates on patient charts and ensure next appointment are scheduled w/ front desk MA
• Cross trained to perform Front Office duties including greeting patients, obtaining authorization, check in/out, communicating wait times, etc.
• Answers telephone as needed
• Attends center staff meetings as required
• Assists in maintaining a neat, clean, and orderly appearance throughout the center/clinic
Qualifications and Education Requirements
Education: High School Diploma or GED and Medical Assistant Certification of completion by accredited post-secondary vocational school.
Experience: New Grads welcome
• Knowledge of medical practice and care (medical terminology, vital signs, OSHA regulations, etc.)
• Knowledge of HIPPA/PHI compliance for protected patient information
• Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions
• Knowledge of examination, diagnostic and treatment room procedures including set-up and maintenance
• Knowledge of using medical office equipment and instruments (EKG’s etc.)
• Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English and Spanish (oral and in writing)
• Ability to assist in medical treatments and medications
• Ability to lift and carry at least 100 pounds and stand for extended periods of time (push, bend, pull, sit, stoop, and stretch)
• Ability to maintain records and record test results
• Ability to remain calm in an emergency
• Ability to manage time, prioritize and multi-task in a busy environment.
• Ability to establish a healthy working relationship with patients, coworkers, the public and vendors
• Proficiency in the operation of a computer to include (use of software, social media, etc.)
Additional Notes
• Fluent in Spanish (required)
• Ability to travel (local)
• Obtain all certifications required of Medical Assistant including but not limited to Drug Screen Collection, Breath Alcohol Certification, Hair and Oral Fluids Collection.

• Maintain a current and valid driver’s license
