While seat belts offer protection, they can't secure your head and neck, making them vulnerable during a crash.
Here are five common brain injuries that can occur:
π§ Concussion: A common type of traumatic brain injury (TBI) caused by a sudden impact. Symptoms can include dizziness, confusion, and loss of consciousness.
π§ Contusion: A bruise on the brain that can be severe and may require surgery. Symptoms might include difficulties in speech and memory.
π§ Pe*******on: When an object penetrates the brain, often requiring careful medical attention. If thereβs bleeding, do not remove the object.
π§ Hemorrhage: Internal bleeding that may occur around or within the brain, presenting symptoms like headaches and loss of consciousness.
π§ Hematoma: A collection of blood outside blood vessels that can create pressure in the skull, potentially leading to loss of consciousness and brain damage.
Watch for Symptoms: After an accident, be alert for headaches, confusion, nausea, or any severe signs like vomiting and loss of consciousness.
If you experience any concerning symptoms, seek medical help immediately.
