Emergency nurses face some of the most intense and challenging moments in healthcare, yet they meet each patient with courage, skill, and compassion. Whether stabilizing a crisis, easing pain, or comforting families in urgent situations, emergency nurses bring both strength and heart to their work. This week, we celebrate and thank them for being a vital part of the continuum of care.

Primary care providers are the foundation of our healthcare system. They are often the first to recognize a change in a patient’s health and play a critical role in guiding families to the right support at the right time. During National Primary Care Week, we extend our gratitude to our primary care partners for the care, compassion, and expertise they provide every day. Hospice care is strengthened by the relationships we share with these dedicated professionals.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a time to honor the courage of those currently fighting, remember the loved ones we’ve lost, and stand beside families who have been touched by this disease. Breast cancer affects 1 in 8 women during their lifetime, but with early detection and treatment, survival rates continue to improve. Hospice and palliative care can also provide support for patients and families facing advanced illness, focusing on comfort, dignity, and emotional strength.

Today, we celebrate Fall Prevention Awareness Day. At Hospice of Tennessee, safety and comfort go hand in hand. Simple steps such as keeping a bedside table within reach, ensuring clear pathways around medical equipment, using non-slip socks or supportive footwear, and making sure hallways and bedrooms are well lit can help reduce the risk of falls for hospice patients.

On this day, we join families and caregivers in raising awareness to keep our patients and community safe. Together, we can protect dignity, promote peace of mind, and prevent falls.

Today, we celebrate the US Air Force! Established on September 18, 1947, the Air Force became the newest branch of the US military, dedicated to protecting our nation through the skies.

At Hospice of Tennessee, we are honored to care for many who once served in the Air Force and other branches of our military. Their courage, sacrifice, and dedication remind us daily of the freedom we cherish.

Happy 77th Birthday, US Air Force!
