Anyone else feeling the darkness of winter descending? The evenings are longer and can force us indoors sooner and for longer. While this can be hard on our hearts and lay heavy on our minds, the shorter days and longer nights can be an invitation to turn inwards, both indoors and internally, to find rest for our bodies and spirits. One way to break up the bleakness of the gray (Tennessee often feels gray and brown this time of year), is to plant Paperwhite, or Narcissus papyraceus, inside in a shallow container of water. Symbolizing renewal and new beginnings, this cheery little flower can bring us hope for more sun, brighter days, and warmer weather. On December 21st, the Winter Solstice, the world will experience the longest night, but turns the corner towards Spring. These winter days and busy holiday season, with all of its messaging and expectation, can feel overwhelming at times. May you find pockets of rest, relief, renewal, and hope amidst them. 🤍🌱🌞🌚🌝🌱🤍
