After 3 1/2 months I'm happy to announce that I will begin taking clients again effective immediately!

A few things to keep in mind:
✨️My new baby will be accompanying me to prenatal appointments and/or consultations.
✨️I only charge a small travel fee for services and anything above that is your choice to gift me.
✨️I have limited availability so booking early in pregnancy is ideal. (I will gladly take clients late in pregnancy if I have an opening)

Happy and Healthy pregnancies to all ❤️

Happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there. May today be filled with joy and rest ✨️

*ANNOUNCEMENT*

As my due date approaches, I have completely stopped accepting clients and will be taking about 6 months to myself after my 3rd baby makes his arrival. I may pick back up in December or maybe sooner depending on how recovery and our new life transition goes. I look forward to accepting clients and helping parents feel confident and secure in their birthing options!

Hey everyone! It's been a minute since I posted but I've been contemplating on a few things involving my future and my career as a doula.

*From here on out all services will be provided on a donation only basis aside from a small travel fee depending on your location.*

I love being a doula but my mission is to provide services for those who may not be able to afford a doula in a traditional sense and breaking down the stigma surrounding doulas! My availability will be limited so I encourage you to reach out as soon as you're comfortable in early pregnancy. Best wishes to all those TTC, expecting, and otherwise. 🤰🏼🤱🏼💜

On the subject of VBACs! A supportive provider can make a huge difference in your birth experience.

On the subject of VBACs! A supportive provider can make a huge difference in your birth experience.

This isn't always the case, of course a C-section could become necessary! But the same woman could have very different outcomes based solely on her provider.

There is a difference between a VBAC supportive and a VBAC tolerant provider. A VBAC supportive provider will always use evidence based care, will validate your preferences, and will help you fight for your VBAC by using all the tools in your toolbelt before jumping to a C-section. A VBAC tolerant provider will be chill for you to have a VBAC if "everything goes perfectly" and might quickly jump to pushing a C-section at the first sign of a bump in the road. Know which one your provider is!

If you don't have VBAC supportive providers in your area, you could travel to a different city or state to find someone to support you. An out-of-hospital birth might also be an option - usually midwives are more VBAC friendly than providers in-hospital. If none of those are options for you, hiring a doula will be extremely helpful!

Here is a great blog post outlining the differences and how to know which category your provider falls into: https://www.thevbaclink.com/vbac-provider/

I'm so happy to announce one of our mothers had a successful VBAC yesterday 🩷. This birth will remain close to my heart because my own VBAC (with a birthing coach) is what lead me to become a doula and help other moms achieve that goal.

For those who are looking for an unmedicated hospital VBAC, here are some tips!

1- Hire a doula: We know, we say this all the time! But doulas are an invaluable part of a birth team and can make a big difference in your unmedicated birth experience.

2- Hiring a provider: If you are hoping for a low-intervention birth, it's important to hire a care provider who is used to assisting in low-intervention births. If the majority of your provider's patients choose a high intervention birth, it's likely your provider will want you to use interventions as well.

3- Laboring at home: If you go into the hospital too early, it's more likely that unnecessary interventions might be suggested or pushed on you.

4- Comfort measures: During labor, comfort measures are your pain management options. Create a list of lots of comfort measures you may want to use during labor. For example: counter pressure, hydrotheraphy, music, tv shows, massage, positive affirmations, etc.

5- Staying active: Use lots of movement during labor. Walk, sway, squat, etc. This will help baby descend and engage in your pelvis, helping your labor to progress naturally.

6- Different positions: Hands and knees, sitting on the birthing ball, leaning, lunging, etc. are all great positions to help baby engage and to help you manage contractions during labor.

7- Eating: Eating light, but nutritious food and staying hydrated during labor is key to keep your energy up. Hospitals usually ask you not to eat, but you can politely decline.

8- Creating a safe space: Dimming the lights and creating a safe space will help you feel safe and comfortable during labor. If you feel unsafe, uncomfortable, rushed, or self conscious you will likely create tension in your mind and body, making it harder to labor without medication.

Not everyone will want to use all of these tips and that's fine! You can still have a powerful, unmedicated birth experience even if you don't hire a doula or if you don't dim the lights. These are just some suggestions to get you started.

Which tip did you enjoy the most during your labor?

This is a phenomenal video created by Illustrator Hatem Hosny that illustrates how your baby maneuvers itself through the pelvis as you are pushing!
