🩸Help Needed- Critically Low Blood Supply🩸

We wanted to take a moment to recognize members of our PCEMS administrative team who recently donated blood with Blood Assurance. Their generosity comes at a very critical time, as Blood Assurance is experiencing severely low blood supplies due to recent weather-related closures and missed donation opportunities.

Blood Assurance supplies blood to CRMC, Vanderbilt, and the majority of hospitals across our region. Their blood supply supports trauma care, emergency surgeries, and lifesaving treatments every day. As first responders, we see the impact of these donations firsthand. As PCEMS prepares to begin carrying blood on our units soon, access to this life-saving resource in the field will directly improve patient outcomes when minutes matter most.

We encourage our community to please consider donating if you’re able. One donation can save multiple lives and give someone a fighting chance at survival! ❤️‍🩹

Thank You, Cookeville Regional Charitable Foundation 💙

Community strength is built through generosity and partnership, and the Cookeville Regional Charitable Foundation continues to make a meaningful difference across the Upper Cumberland.

Through their support, the Foundation generously donated two new wheelchairs to Putnam County Emergency Medical Services for use on the AmbuBus. These wheelchairs will play a vital role in safely loading and unloading patients during large-scale emergencies and major incidents when multiple individuals must be transported at once.

The AmbuBus, operated and maintained by PCEMS, is a regional resource made available through a joint effort of multiple organizations to serve communities throughout the Upper Cumberland. Having the proper equipment ensures this shared resource can be used safely, efficiently, and with patient dignity at the forefront.

This contribution was especially meaningful following a recent major incident where the AmbuBus was utilized, reinforcing the importance of preparedness and community support.

👏 Thank you to the Cookeville Regional Charitable Foundation for investing in emergency services and helping create a safer, stronger community for all.

Our 911 center is currently experiencing a higher-than-normal call volume related to outdoor fall incidents.

Emergency services are actively responding, and resources are being utilized to assist those injured. To help reduce the risk of additional injuries and keep emergency lines available for critical needs, the public is urged to use caution and stay inside if at all possible. If you must go outside remember what may look like only snow is actually ice with snow on top of it.

The Putnam County Emergency Operations Center opened in a partial activation at 6:00 capacity which includes the Support Branch, Public Information Branch, and the Public Safety Branch in support of the winter storm that is currently upon us. The EOC is monitoring the current situation as nightfall changes the roadway conditions and closely monitoring precipitation type and what effect it could have on power and infrastructure.
