“My name is Alisha, and I graduated from the Medical Assistant program at Fortis Institute in May 2025. I chose Fortis because it gave me hands on learning, busy schedule of a mom of 5, with a full-time job. I literally had my hands full but pulled through it with my support team that I had on my side.

I have always loved to become part of the nursing field. I graduated with honors on making the Dean’s List and being a part of the National Technical Honor Society. I currently work at Cumberland Kidney & Diabetes Specialist working under Dr. Sharma.

I plan on forwarding my career into the nursing field and becoming an R.N, N.P, or P.A. I am so lucky to have had a great support team and teachers as well. Every one of you pushed me and I’m thankful that I made it this far and moving onward with what I have always wanted to do since I was a child.

Thank you, Fortis, for helping me make my dreams come true. I am and will be forever grateful for the things that you guys have taught me."

🎓We ❤️ hearing from our graduates! 🎓🎉

“My name is Autumn Kelly, and I graduated from the Medical Assistant program at Fortis Institute in May 2024. I chose Fortis because it gave me hands-on learning and a schedule that worked with my busy life. I never thought that at 38 years old I’d be starting a brand-new career, but I’m so glad I did.

My husband and I own a mobile urgent care clinic in Crossville, Tennessee. For a while, he was doing everything on his own as a Nurse Practitioner, but it didn’t take long to realize he needed an extra set of hands. I’m so thankful he asked me to join him, not just as his assistant but as his partner. Recently, we also opened a new on-site clinic called ER2GO Total Wellness, and it’s been an amazing step forward for us.

These days, I get to help with blood draws, SoftWave treatments, medical procedures, and keeping everything stocked and ready to go. But the best part is being able to work with the people in our community—and to do it alongside my best friend every single day. We really do make a great team.

"I’m currently working at Crossville Medical Group (Covenant Health) as a CCMA I have been with the company for 7.5 years now. I’m currently working along with many experienced Medical Assistants and LPNs. I work with one of the Nurse Practitioner’s seeing from 12-20 patients a day. Rooming patients daily which includes daily prepping, vitals, charting, updating medication lists, histories, messaging and communication with patients by phone and the portal. Administering vaccines , medications. Fortis helped me change my pathway by learning valuable skills to apply in the field. They helped me to better myself for me and my beautiful family."

"For my externship I was sent to work with Dr. Summer Weary, at Apex Podiatry. I’ve since come to work for her full time and couldn’t be happier as a Podiatric medical assistant. Currently I have a role as Lead assistant, and we have a tight knit office of wonderful people. I would like to go back to school sometime in the future to get my LPN or RN, and help people even more."

"I graduated from Fortis Institute's Nursing program in 2021 and I can honestly say it was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I worked in advanced wound care as an LPN and when I graduated Fortis Nursing Program, I continued my journey as an RN, Case Manager with the wound care center. Since having my first child, and presently one little one on the way, I decided to take a remote job as a Clinical Review RN with Blue Cross Blue Shield Of Tennessee out of Chattanooga and I am still with Blue Cross currently. I loved my time at Fortis because of the incredible instructors who truly cared about my success. I loved that the nursing program was hands on. I feel that is where you learn the most, is when you are physically with a patient. Also I loved the simulations because it prepared you for real life situations. The skills that I learned in this program will follow me for the rest of my career.”
