🚦 Traffic Update – New Signal Activated 🚦

The City of Cookeville has completed the installation of temporary traffic signals at the intersection of Henley Drive and S. Jefferson Avenue (near Sam’s Club).

This comes as part of efforts to reduce congestion caused by the temporary closure of Bunker Hill Road at S. Jefferson Ave. With quick coordination between the City and TDOT, crews from the Public Works Traffic Division and Cookeville Energy Department worked together to install and prepare the signal.

✅ The 7-day “flash” period is now complete.
✅ On Thursday, October 9, at 3:30 PM, the signal will go into full operation in all four directions of travel.
✅ Traffic crews will continue monitoring the signal to ensure smooth operation and improved traffic flow.

⚠️ Street Closures: West Broad Street and Thomas Road, Sept. 23 ⚠️

West Broad Street (Highway 70N) will be closed tomorrow, Sept. 23, at the Thomas Road intersection. This closure is in effect from 9 a.m. to approximately 11 a.m. while crews install a utility meter vault.

Thomas Road, from West Broad Street to North Drive, will also be closed during this time.

Detour signs and flaggers will be in place to reroute traffic during this time.

This closure is being carried out by TDOT. For questions, please contact the local TDOT office at 931-526-4520.
