Undisturbed birth

Undisturbed birth

This is undisturbed birth.
Going into labor at nearly 42 weeks, on my own.
In my home while my other children were fast asleep.
My husband by my side.
Our midwife, nearly invisible unless I wanted her.
Access to food and hydration, as I pleased.
No one coaching me.
No bright lights.
My baby and I danced. A dance only him, God and I knew.
And when my baby said it was time, into his dad’s hands he was born.
Surrounded by siblings.
Birthed into love.
This is undisturbed birth.

🌿

My beautiful friends - you know I can’t hardly talk without opening up more conversations, too. Multiple things can exist at the same time. This one being: Undisturbed birth can be desirable and it’s not always reality. Sometimes, despite our dreams and intentions, babies tell us how they need to be born. I am passionate that hospitals beget more interventions in an otherwise healthy birth, but I’m not naive that nature isn’t always perfect. So here’s my little shoutout that, as mothers, we are rockstars. I’m holding space in my heart for the mama’s who had their births robbed from them and for the ones who wanted their birth to go one way but their baby said another thing. Motherhood is wild in that way, isn’t it? 🥰

Moms, you are amazing

Moms, you are amazing

Did you ever just stop and realize how amazing you are?
Seriously.

Make a list — you’re good at lists.
Even if it’s short.

Write down what you did today:
got everyone where they needed to be
answered the same question twelve times
made the meals, wiped the counters, found the missing shoe
held it together when things felt loud or heavy
showed up… again

It may not look big.
It may not feel like enough.

But it is.

You are.

And all those little things?
They add up to a life full of love, effort, and quiet strength
that no one else could do quite like you.

So if today felt ordinary,
look a little closer—

you showed up in a hundred ways that mattered.
