Healthy Eating Tips:
Use the Harvard Healthy Eating Plate as a guide for choosing healthy, balanced meals. Here are some additional tips for staying healthy:
βœ… Make most of your meal vegetables and fruits
βœ… Go for whole grains
βœ… Choose proteins like fish, poultry, beans, and nuts
βœ… Use healthy oils like olive oil or canola oil
βœ… Drink water; 1/2 your bodyweight in ounces
βœ… Stay active

Making healthy choices starts with taking one step at a time. I hear often that "it's unappetizing, it doesn't taste good" when people try to make a change in their diet. It takes at least 2 weeks to change your palate and for some people it takes longer.

Do you have picky kids? Encourage them to take small steps: one bite, 2 bites, a whole piece. Be creative and lead by example. Sometimes presentation is everything.

Finally had the perfect weather to get the fiance to take me to the C**n Rapids Regional Dam! I regularly walk the neighborhood I live, however the park was a nice change of scenery. Once the weather and lakes are warmer I look forward to kayaking! What do you like to do (or want to do) to stay active!

Have you wondered what "soft tissue treatment" encompasses?
Joint flossing is just one of the many options that can be used to treat tissues around a joint complex. Using a flossing band can allow a patient to perform some repetitions of a specific motion, like a squat or lunge, to improve the range of that joint's motion. When the band is removed
they repeat the movements performed. Patients notice an improvement in range, that the movement feels easier, and often less painful.

Pain is a fantastic protective mechanism when it's short term. If it continues beyond the the expected time of healing of your injury it can be quite annoying. Sometimes you can even have pain when you don't recall an proceeding event.
That pain signal will prevent you from your normal patterns of movement, what we clinicians like to altered motor control. This altered movement can lead to using muscles and joints in a way they aren't meant to move.
A great example is an ankle that's had several sprains, is now stiff and doesn't have the motion that it needs. The movement needs to be gained elsewhere and often ends up causing pain in the knee. I think we can all agree that the knee is really only meant to have big movements in one plane of motion: performing flexion like when squatting down, and extending like when you stand up.

Chiropractic care can help restore proper motion to joints and helps relieve pain. If you need help getting back into the swing of things give us a call!
