It is tough to succeed in school if your eyes are fatigued from double vision and light sensitivity when looking at smart boards all day. After completing vision therapy, double vision is a thing of the past and screens are no longer bothersome. Congrats to another graduate and all the hard work that she put in to get this far!

Shout-out to another graduate! Before starting vision therapy, Avri frequently experienced headaches and struggled with reading. However, these challenges extended beyond the classroom—vision problems can also impact physical activities, including sports. Since completing therapy, Avri has made significant progress not only in her academic performance and reading skills but also in her dance abilities! Congrats!

Tim came to vision therapy fighting the urge to sleep every time he cracked open a book. After therapy, he notes he can stay awake while reading much longer. He says “Vision therapy is actually pretty fun. For an adult, it makes you feel like a kid again. ”

Congrats Tim!

Kennedy's mom wrote us....

"Before vision therapy, Kennedy was having problems with reading, handwriting, and mathematics. These difficulties made her willingness to participate in those tasks very minimal. When reading she would often read words that started with the first letter she saw, not the actual work that was written. Her handwriting had no spacing even with multiple techniques given. She also didn’t write her letters well and neatly on a line. Mathematics requires reading, which was hard as well as lining up math problems to solve them. She understood the process to complete it but would get the wrong answer because she couldn’t line up the numbers. Which would reinforce her thoughts of not knowing how to do math, which wasn’t true.

She had been seen twice for basic vision assessments. The first at age 7 because she was expressing, she could not see the white board. She passed with no reports of vision deficits. So, it was chalked up to behavioral. The second at the age of 11 years old because she told me she couldn’t see the street signs well. They did end up giving her a very low prescription for glasses. Hopeful that was the answer to her struggles. She could see a little better far away but did not improve other areas.

I was astonished after watching her evaluation as well as her first treatment session at how her eyes didn’t work together. I almost couldn’t believe it. Honestly for years I thought she was just being difficult. When Dr Sis told me she likely won’t need glasses after completing vision therapy, I was skeptical but also excited to may change that outcome for her.

After completing vision therapy her confidence and desire to read has increased. As well as her accuracy with reading. She can also recognize when something is difficult and can share what might help fix it. Her handwriting legibility has increased, what seems like, overnight. She received her first A on a math test AND she does not need her glasses anymore!! She is still improving and rewriting the narrative from “I can’t to I CAN!” and will continue to improve her skills with all the great tools provided to her. We are so grateful to be on this journey thanks to Dr. Sis, Sandy, and the rest of the team at Pediatric Vision Development Center.

They are truly life changers!"

Cece writes "I was having trouble crossing my eyes and the words would get blurry." Mom added Cece would have to read the same sentence over and over and while looking at the board far away or writing on paper things would become blurry.

Post therapy Cece has gained confidence in the classroom. She no longer complains that the board is blurry or getting headaches. Cece proudly shares “now I can cross my eyes and the words don’t get blurry!”

Congratulations Cece on all of your hard work!
