Summers abundance is in full swing. Play with pups, water, w**d, harvest, dry, shuffle, make medicine, eat, sleep, teach, take pics and vids of all the cuteness, rinse repeat!

Thanks so much to the lovely farmers at Unadilla Community Farm for sharing your abundance with me and my community. I was able to collect comfrey leaf, wood betony, mints and lots of lemonbalm! My drying room is full. My heart is fuller. I made a tincture of the wood betony and an apple cider vinegar infusion as well. It is my first time making it, and I am thrilled to start working with Wood Betony (Stachys officianalis) flowers and leaf to be exact. Thank you Tara, Kris, Jamal and Alex!

Join them next Saturday for their next community work day, harvesting garlic. Help them out and soak in the beautiful landscape and welcoming farm crew. It is Sat July 19th from 9am to noon. Register on their website unadillacommunityfarm.com

Actaea Institute (my new herb school) combines with Plant Cunning Podcast and Conference is bringing to the world a delightful experience in the beautiful Adirondack Mountains this Aug 13th through 17th. We will be learning and working with plants, making art, relaxing, doing breathwork and yoga, and enjoying music poetry and the incredible mountain air together. We need this. Very excited to spend time at one of my absolute my favorite places (the Bark Eater Inn) with some of my favorite people (plant people) for a restorative long weekend of botanical learning, plant walks, breath work, aromatherapy, medicine making, art and music.

This is a chance for us to gather in person to connect and learn and be with the plants. Isaac and I are not hosting the Plant Cunning Conference this year at the farm. Instead we are having a more intimate and relaxed event in the beautiful Adirondack Mountains for this August Herb Retreat.

Isaac is leading a plant walk and he will be performing a music set for us Saturday night.

Each attendee is going to get a 45 min astrology reading from my co-conspirator, aromatherapist, herbalist and astrologer Gabriel Mojay. He will dive into botanical astrology in his 3 part lecture series during the retreat, as well as leading us in making our own aromatic essential oil blends based on our birth chart!

If you are interested please let us know, as seats are limited.

We start on Wednesday evening August 13, 2025, to Sunday August 18th. Weekend passes available too.

A green fire cider in the works. Jalapeño, lime, ginger, garlic scapes, red onion bulb and shoots, cilantro, and a lil costmary herb all infused in Apple Cider Vinegar.

Fire Cider is one of my favorite herbal remedies. Its an immune boosting, warming tonic that can kick start digestion. It is a lovely salad dressing or marinade. I love finding easy ways to incorporate herbs into the kitchen.

Next weekend I am thrilled to be leading a hands on Fire Cider Making workshop at the In person Hawthorn Botanical Gathering in State College, PA. You can still register. Its going to be so fun, I can't wait. I am especially excited for the deep dive lecture by jim mcdonald on the digestive system and crafting gut healing teas. As well as herbal spa time, plant walks, herbal dentistry classes and just spending time with the plant peeps- I am just thrilled to be attending again this year. The location for the gathering, Rhoneymead is also just a stunning property of amazing old trees, gardens, art and rolling meadows.

Plant Walk tomorrow 2pm to 4pm with Otsego County Conservation Association, all welcome to attend. Join us at 415 County Rd 41 South Edmeston NY. Rain or shine we have lots of umbrellas but hope we won't need them.

We will focus on a range of wild, edible and medicinal plants that you can forage yourself in your own neighborhood.
