When the day is cloudy but the residents at Griggs County Care in Cooperstown, ND are feeling like doing something off- the- cuff-we oblige!
We blew up the swimming pool we usually use at our Hawaiian luau party. Instead we used it as a pond for our numbered, little yellow, rubber ducks.
We packed little gift packages with the corresponding number on the ducky butts and had them lined up on the counter. All of the residents cheered one another on as they splished splashed their hands in the water to make all the ducklings float to and fro! When they were ready....they would grab one of the ducks and turn it over where they found their number. They got to grab their little goodie packages with the same numbers on them that were on the bottoms of floating ducks they just grabbed. Two of the ladies even got to keep a duck! We would like to make the announcement that many days, it's the off-the-cuff activities that can bring the most joy!
