Coos Bay Library is hosting a 4-H Babysitting Certification Friday, November 8 for tweens and teens interested in babysitting skill building. It's a cool opportunity and includes a free breakfast and lunch for participants (the 8th, Friday is a grading day for the Coos Bay School District).

Ones of the best ways to cool down this summer is at Mingus Park Pool. Free swimming lessons on Saturdays from 9-12 pm. Contact Mingus Park Pool to register.

Free swim lessons every Saturday from 9 to 12 every half hour. Please pre register your swimmer.

Free family swim 7 days a week until September 1st. 2pm to 4pm. Anyone 6 or under needs to be accompanied by an adult 18 or older.

On Saturday, April 8 at 10:30 AM, North Bend Public Library will be hosting a special storytime with North Bend Medical Center. The Storytime theme will be about keeping our bodies healthy and will take place in the Children’s Room of the Library. All children in attendance will receive a free book and a toothbrush.

Join Oregon Children's illustrator Deborah Hocking for a hands-on art workshop at the Coos Bay Library on Saturday, Oct. 22 from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Hocking calls Portland home and is the illustrator for the Sydney & Taylor series for young readers and the Max Explains Everything titles, as well as several other picture books for young readers. During the workshop, Hocking will talk about how illustrators show emotions in picture books. Participants will have an opportunity to create art that depicts a character's emotion, or which evokes emotion in an audience. The workshop is suitable for all ages.
