Holiday Wellness - Social Self-care
The holiday season often brings a full calendar of gatherings, family obligations, and social expectations. While connection can be meaningful, it can also feel overwhelming. Practicing social self-care means being intentional about how, when, and with whom we spend our time—so we can stay grounded and energized through the season.
Social self-care starts with setting healthy boundaries. It’s okay to say no to events that don’t serve your well-being or to leave early when you’ve reached your limit. Protecting your time and energy allows you to show up more fully when it matters most.
It’s also important to honor different social needs. Some people recharge through togetherness, while others need quiet or one-on-one connection. Checking in with yourself—and respecting the needs of others—can reduce stress and strengthen relationships.
Finally, remember that social self-care includes nurturing supportive connections. A meaningful conversation, a quick check-in with a colleague, or a shared laugh can go a long way. Small, authentic moments of connection often matter more than packed schedules.
This holiday season, give yourself permission to prioritize balance. Caring for your social well-being is an important part of overall health—and it helps create a kinder, more compassionate season for everyone.
