Today, our team at Carve Your Own Path, Inc. pauses to honor and remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. We hold space for the families, friends, and communities who carry the enduring weight of that loss every single day.

For many in our community, holidays like Memorial Day also bring complex emotions, grief, or hypervigilance. As a trauma-informed space, we remind you to prioritize your own nervous system and emotional well-being today. Whether you spend the day in quiet reflection, connecting with loved ones, or simply resting, please extend extra gentleness to yourself.

We stand as a supportive resource for healing and wellness within our local landscape. If you or a loved one are navigating a heavy season, please know that you do not have to carry it alone.

Yesterday, our Executive Director Amanda Kostura and therapist Jenna Savago attended a vital community training held at Summit County Public Health. The workshop, sponsored by the Summit County ADM Board and created by Dr. Josephine Ridley, focused on culturally informed strategies to prevent su***de in Black communities.

The presentation highlighted critical data, including the alarming reality that Black teens in Ohio experience higher rates of su***de deaths compared to national averages. Understanding that systemic racism is a core social determinant of health, acting as a direct driver of health inequities, is essential to changing these outcomes. The data shows that the psychological toll of racism, from institutional bias to internalized negative stereotypes, directly impacts the mental well-being and safety of youth.

At Carve Your Own Path, we believe that providing truly trauma-informed care means actively showing up, listening, and learning how to dismantle these inequities. Equipping our clinicians with culturally specific, anti-oppressive frameworks allows us to better support the whole person and build a safer, more inclusive community.

Thank you to the Summit County ADM Board and Ridley Behavioral Health for bringing this essential education to our local clinicians.

We are committed to continuous growth so we can offer the highest standard of inclusive care to our neighbors. Learn more about our mission, our team, and our trauma-informed services by visiting https://sbee.link/vrdtan4beh

Why does everything feel so overwhelming right now?

If you have been feeling more anxious or burnt out lately, please know that you are not alone. Our latest community presentation, created by our BSW Intern Molly Gilreath, dives into the very real reasons why our collective stress feels so high right now.

From constant news exposure to the financial strain of daily life, there are systemic reasons why your body might feel like it is stuck in survival mode. This chronic stress directly impacts our sleep, our focus, and our ability to regulate our emotions.

The good news is that we live in a community filled with resources designed to support the whole person. Beyond our own holistic events at Carve Your Own Path, organizations like Quiet Thoughts Matter, NAMI Summit County, and SO MANY OTHERS are here to help you navigate these challenges.

We invite you to scroll through these slides for gentle coping tools, from setting screen time limits to finding simple ways to move your body. Remember, you do not have to carry everything alone.

Our mission is fueled by the dedication of those who choose to give back, and this year, we have been incredibly fortunate to work alongside a group of passionate social work interns. Together, they contributed over 1,150 hours to our community mission, showing up with heart and commitment every single day.

From advocating at community meetings and coalitions to co-facilitating our "Calm Crew" yoga and mindfulness sessions with 5th graders, these future professionals have made a tangible difference in the lives of our neighbors. We also want to highlight their beautiful work co-facilitating "Creative Connection" expressive art therapy with local seniors, bridging generations through healing and art.

Thank you for your commitment to caring for your community and for giving your education experience your all. We cannot wait to see how you continue to carve your own paths in the field of social work.
