Walk as one at 1! šā„ļøšš¼
Tomorrow is World Labyrinth Day. All around the world, people will be walkingāpausing at the same time, tracing the same ancient patterns, sharing a moment you canāt quite see⦠but are part of.
Choose to be here.
Revel in the moment.
Don't let the tyranny of your urgent steal your presence.
As you walkāwhether on a full labyrinth or tracing one with your fingersānotice whatās actually there:
The rhythm of your steps.
The sound of birds in the spring air.
The quiet movement of others walking alongside you.
Let the moment be enough.
This morning I read an article about happiness that stayed with me. The idea was simple: happiness isnāt so much about what youāre doingāitās about how present you are while youāre doing it.
That rings true. But presence isnāt one-dimensional.
Our minds need space to process, to wander, to make connections. Those deeper thoughts arenāt the enemy. But thereās a difference between allowing them to unfold⦠and letting them pull you away from what is right in front of you.
You can return to your thoughts later.
You cannot return to this exact moment.
So tomorrowāchoose to be here.
Revel in the moment.
Be present with your family.
Be present with the people you meet along the path. Listen. Engage. Pay attention.
Demonstrate what it looks like to truly be there for someone. Donāt let the urgency of lifeāor the noise of earlier conversationsāsteal your attention from what is right in front of you.
You only get this moment, with this person, right now. Especially with the people around you.
Where I live, itās still common to meet someoneās eyes as you pass. A small smile. A quiet acknowledgment: youāre here, and you matter.
In other places, weāve learned to look down, to pass by without seeing. Tomorrow, do the opposite.
Lift your eyes. Meet someoneās gaze. Offer a simple smile. Not forced. Not intrusive. Just present. Show the people you pass that they are part of this moment too.
Be.
Breathe.
Choose to be here.
Revel in this moment in time.
