Flossing is an important part of a child’s dental routine. When a child’s teeth are touching, it is important to use dental floss as an aid to prevent food and bacteria from being trapped in between two teeth. 🦷 🦠 🦷

Food impaction may lead to inflammed gum tissue and the start and progression of dental caries. 😢

Flossing Tricks:
✔️ maintain nighttime routine consistency
✔️ assist your child with posterior teeth
✔️ keep floss visible and readily accessible
✔️ use a thin ribbon floss to prevent floss trauma 😝
✔️ use back and forth “sawing” type motion
✔️ lay your child on a bed or chair to allow good visibility
✔️ dip your floss in hydroxyapatite toothpaste prior to flossing

Baby teeth and permanent teeth have similarities and differences. Baby teeth have thinner layers, which make a small cavity more of a threat to the inner part of the tooth. This is one of the downfalls of a dental cavity on a baby tooth.
