💚 Welcoming Two New Physicians
Here at KIDZ, our dedicated clinicians and team members are at the heart of what we do. And though we always expect our physician recruits to meet rigorous training and certification standards, we know that compassion and kindness — especially because we work with children and families — are also key parts of a KIDZ Medical clinician’s makeup. That’s why we’re proud to welcome these two new physicians into the KIDZ family.

⭐ Dr. Marines Castillo Echevarria is a fellowship-trained pediatric endocrinologist. She completed her pediatrics residency in Puerto Rico and her endocrinology fellowship at UAB — the University of Alabama at Birmingham — and Children’s of Alabama. Her clinical focus includes type 1 diabetes, insulin effects, and vitamin D deficiency. Dr. Castillo is passionate about community education, including hosting Spanish-language health podcasts, and has presented her research nationally. She was also recently honored with the Pediatric Endocrine Society’s 2025 Fellow Spotlight. Dr. Castillo will see patients at our Boca Raton and West Palm Beach multispecialty practice locations.

⭐ Dr. Eric Tano, a Miami native, is a fellowship-trained neonatologist. He completed his neonatology fellowship at Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital in Cleveland, and his pediatric residency at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital. Dr. Tano has contributed to research in neonatal care and potential vaccine-related cardiac issues in adolescents. While at Nicklaus Children’s, he helped develop an initiative setting up telehealth visits for NICU families with 24 hours of discharge where medications, feedings, and follow-ups were reviewed, and participated in a presentation about the initiative for the Pediatric Academic Society. Dr. Tano currently holds privileges at Baptist Health South Miami and Baptist Hospitals, and St. Mary’s Medical Center.

Every day, our expert clinicians work alongside our hospital partners to ensure that your children can receive the best care close to home. And today we're honored to share that Palm Beach Children's Hospital has named KIDZ infectious disease physician, Dr. Chad Sanborn, chief of pediatrics.

👨🏽‍⚕️ Dr. Sanborn is board certified in both pediatrics and infectious disease, and completed his fellowship training at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine / Jackson Memorial Hospital. In addition to his dedication to pediatric clinical care, Dr. Sanborn is also passionate about teaching the doctors of tomorrow through his work at Florida Atlantic University’s Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine and the University of Vermont’s Larner College of Medicine.

🎗️Spreading Sarcoma Awareness
July is Sarcoma Awareness Month, and on this Wear Yellow Wednesday, our aim is to spread awareness about this rare group of cancers found in bone and soft tissue. Sarcomas represent about 21% of childhood cancers in the U.S. and are sometimes difficult to distinguish from other cancer types. More rare cancer research and advocacy is needed to advance treatment options for sarcoma.

👩🏼‍⚕️ Here at KIDZ, our subspecialized team of pediatric oncology physicians and researchers treat even rare childhood cancers. Dr. Maggie Eidson Fader serves as the medical director of the sarcoma and solid tumor program at the Helen & Jacob Shaham Cancer & Blood Disorders Institute at Nicklaus Children's Hospital — helping patients and families with expertise and compassion.

🩷 The Milagros Miracle
It's hard to imagine that the young woman pictured here was born weighing only 1 lb. at 22 weeks and not expected to survive, but Milagros's story is a powerful testimony of what medical advancements — paired with an experienced, compassionate, and relentless medical team — can do.

🩷 Milagros was under the care of the KIDZ neonatology team for 122 days in the NICU at South Miami Hospital, and is now a thriving 15-year-old with no long-term health issues! Our incredible team of clinicians — including veteran neo nurse practitioner, Jorge Jordan, APRN — played a crucial part in Milagros’s transfer to the NICU, which ultimately gave her a chance to live.

🩷 We're continuously inspired by our team's efforts and the incredible strides being made in neonatal care at NICUs everywhere. They result in lifechanging outcomes for even the most fragile newborns.
