"As a medical dosimetrist, it is amazing to work at a cancer center that offers such a wide range of advanced treatment modalities, allowing us to provide patients with the most effective and personalized care options available. The culture at Miami Cancer Institute is deeply rooted in safety, precision, and collaboration, ensuring that the highest standards of accuracy are met from the time the patient is simulated to the last treatment delivered.

Our daily departmental discussions create a collaborative environment, where team members are encouraged to contribute their insights on complex cases and feel that their opinions are valued. Today we’re spotlighting Hellen, Surgical Tech 2 at Baptist Hospital of Miami. Through our upskilling program, Hellen was able to grow her career and transition into the OR with confidence.

"I began my career in Sterile Processing, where I developed strong attention to detail and a deep understanding of how important every instrument is for patient care. Even though I was proud of my role, I always wanted to grow and be closer to the patient and the surgical team. When I learned about the upskilling program at Baptist Hospital, I felt excited but also a little nervous, because it was a big step. But from the beginning, the program provided incredible support, training, and guidance. The team truly invests in your success. Through hands-on experience and continuous learning, I gained the confidence and skills needed to transition into the OR.
Today, I’m proud to be working as a Surgical Tech II, actively participating in surgeries and making a direct impact on patient outcomes. This program has opened doors for me and created a strong career ladder within the organization. I’m very grateful for the opportunity, and I would encourage anyone in SPD to believe in themselves and take that next step."

Today, we’re spotlighting Eric A., Surgical Tech 2 at Baptist Hospital of Miami. From starting in Sterile Processing to advancing into the OR, Eric’s journey is a great example of the growth opportunities available at Baptist Health.

"I started my journey here as a Sterile Processing technician III. In SPD, I learned the foundation of surgery, understanding instruments, trays, and most importantly, the role we play in patient safety. But I always knew I wanted to grow and be part of the surgical team inside the OR. When the upskilling program at Baptist Hospital opened, I saw it as a great opportunity and it truly exceeded my expectations. The program is very structured, hands-on, and supported by strong leadership and experienced preceptors who guide you every step of the way. It challenges you, but it also prepares you to succeed.
Today, I’m proud to say I’ve transitioned into a Surgical Tech II role. Now, I’m part of the surgical team, anticipating the surgeon’s needs and directly impacting patient care. This program didn’t just give me a new role, it gave me a clear career path. I’m grateful to Baptist Hospital for investing in my growth, and I would absolutely encourage anyone in SPD who is ready to take the next step to go for it." - Eric A., Surgical Tech 2

Today, we’re spotlighting Anisley, Lead Respiratory Therapist at Fishermen’s Community Hospital. See why she is proud to be part of the Baptist Health team.

“I began my career with Baptist in 2021. I started at Mariners Hospital and shortly after transferred to Fishermen’s. Patient care is deeply personal to me because I serve the same close-knit community I call home in the Florida Keys. As a respiratory therapist, I understand that every patient is a neighbor, a friend, or a family member of someone I know. I take pride in delivering compassionate, high-quality care, especially in a rural setting where trust and reliability matter so much. Here at Fishermens the entire staff is committed to advocating for patients and ensuring they feel safe, heard, and respected during their most vulnerable moments. Proving excellent care to my community isn’t just my job- it’s my responsibility and my passion.” - Anisley, Lead Respiratory Therapist

Today, we’re spotlighting Daniel D., Emergency Department RN at Homestead Hospital. See why he is motivated to provide exceptional care and be part of the Baptist Health team.

"From transporter to nurse, my journey at Baptist has been one of growth, perseverance, and the support of an incredible team. I’ve proudly been part of the Baptist family for 16 years. I began my career as a transporter and eventually worked my way into BOS as a float pool tech. Along the way, many colleagues encouraged me and often told me they believed I was destined to become a nurse.
During the pandemic, I decided to transition to Homestead Hospital, where I gained invaluable experience, strengthened my clinical knowledge, and learned how to truly work under pressure. The fast-paced environment pushed me to grow, and the continued encouragement from my coworkers helped me realize that nursing was more than just a goal. It was my calling. Although I was initially nervous about returning to school, I made it my mission to prove to myself, my family, and my extended Baptist “Pineapple Family” that they were right about me.
Today, I’m proud to serve our community as a nurse and grateful for the incredible team, both day and night shift, who supported me throughout this journey." - Daniel D., Registered Nurse

The Best Place To Be Your Best.

That’s our challenge to people who take pride in what they do and want ongoing opportunities to do it better.

Baptist Health South Florida is a community of people who care for one another, and who help each other excel so that everyone achieves his or her personal best. But what is it that makes Baptist Health South Florida so distinctive and unique among other healthcare organizations? Quite simply, it’s our commitment to putting quality first in everything we do. At Baptist Health, we work together to create a level of quality that could only be accomplished with a dedicated, collaborative team.

We are once again one of the 2018 Fortune 100 Best Companies to Work For. This is the 18th time Baptist Health has been named to the prestigious list and is the only healthcare provider in the state to be ranked. This recognition is based on employee ratings of their workplace culture, including the level of trust they feel towards leaders, the pride they take in their jobs and the camaraderie they experience with co-workers.
