Some conversations change how you see your career and yourself.

On the next episode of Skin Deep, I’m joined by Dr. Brittany Busse, a physician who turned burnout, discrimination, and systemic barriers into a bold new model for independent medicine.

We talk about:
• Reclaiming autonomy
• Breaking free from insurance-based systems
• Overcoming fear in private practice
• Why you don’t need permission to build something better

🎙️ New Episode drops tomorrow 3/12

If you’re a physician who’s ever felt stuck, silenced, or burned out…

this one goes deep.

💬What’s the biggest fear holding doctors back from rewriting the rules?

A circular, red patch with a slightly raised border and central clearing is often a sign of tinea corporis, a common superficial fungal infection of the skin.

It’s frequently mistaken for:
• eczema
• psoriasis
• allergic reactions

But the treatment is completely different.

Tinea spreads through skin-to-skin contact, shared surfaces, or even pets. Early treatment prevents expansion and transmission.

If you notice:
⚠️ Ring-shaped lesions
⚠️ Scaling borders
⚠️ Itching that spreads outward

Accurate diagnosis = targeted treatment.

Hives aren’t random...they’re the skin reacting to something specific, even when the trigger isn’t obvious.

Understanding why they happen is key to managing them long term.

If are recurring, persistent, or affecting your quality of life, it’s time for evaluation.

It might not be “just a pimple.”

This is an epidermal cyst (L72.0) a benign but sometimes painful growth that forms when skin cells get trapped under the surface.

Drainage is temporary.

Complete surgical excision is definitive.

In this case, I carefully removed the entire cyst wall to reduce recurrence and promote proper healing. Sutures were placed for optimal cosmetic outcome.

Early evaluation prevents complications.

I offer both in-office procedures in Miami and teledermatology consultations nationwide.

From March 1 – March 7, 2026, I will be traveling to Southeast Alaska to serve underserved Indigenous communities through my nonprofit foundation, Indigenous Dermatology.

I will be working full clinical days

🕢 7:30 AM – 5:00 PM AKT
📍 PeaceHealth – Southeast Alaska

Access to dermatologic care is limited in many remote regions and skin conditions like infections, eczema, skin cancer, and inflammatory diseases often go untreated.

This work is deeply personal to me:

Through Indigenous Dermatology, my mission is to expand access, provide culturally sensitive care, and bring specialty dermatology services to communities that need it most.

✈️ Please note: Travel to Alaska requires a full day of flights each way, and during travel days I am unable to see patients (in person or virtual).

However, my patients can still schedule teledermatology appointments before or after my travel dates.

Care doesn’t stop.

It simply reaches farther.

Thank you for supporting this mission.

One of the most common questions I get after microneedling is:

👉 When will I see results?

Here’s what I tell my patients:

Microneedling results don’t come from the procedure alone, they come from proper aftercare.

The first 48 hours are critical for healing. Overdoing skincare too soon can delay results or cause irritation.

When done correctly, microneedling improves texture, tone, and collagen over time.

If you’re considering this treatment, a personalized plan makes all the difference.

Acne is more than “a breakout.”

What makes this transformation so meaningful to me is watching a patient regain confidence and control over their skin, especially after months or years of frustration.

Healing acne takes patience, a tailored plan, and science, not myths.

If you’re tired of breakouts that won’t quit or treatments that don’t work → that’s a signal your skin needs expert guidance.

After 2 months of consistent treatment, and teamwork, we’re already seeing a visible difference.

The pigment is softening, the skin tone looks more even, and most importantly… confidence is coming back.

We still have a journey ahead, and that’s okay. Healing skin is about progress, patience, and trusting the process.

✨ Laser treatments can be a great option for melasma, but every skin is different. The best results come from a personalized approach, not a one-size-fits-all solution.
