I prescribe GLP-1 medications — but I don’t run medication-only weight loss programs.

These medications can be incredibly helpful tools. They influence appetite, insulin signaling, and metabolic pathways that many people struggle with.
But they don’t work in isolation — and they were never meant to replace medical care.

Sustainable weight loss requires understanding why weight was gained in the first place: hormones, metabolism, nutrition, sleep, stress, muscle mass, and lifestyle patterns. Without addressing those, medication eventually hits a ceiling.

That’s why, in my practice, GLP-1s are used thoughtfully — as part of a comprehensive, personalized plan focused on long-term metabolic health, not quick fixes.

It’s a pretty harsh flu season, and with that comes a lot of people who feel that their symptoms are severe enough that they may need an antibiotic. But your doctor isn’t blowing you off when they don’t give you antibiotics for a virus.

They’re actually doing your microbiome a favor.

Antibiotics don’t treat viruses — but they do disrupt gut bacteria, lower microbial diversity, and increase the risk of yeast infections and overgrowth, GI symptoms, and future infections. That’s not even taking into account the risk of allergic reactions, which can be severe.

In a short visit, your doctor’s job is to rule out what’s dangerous and avoid causing harm.
And unnecessary antibiotics are harm.
